Thank you Veterans
Disney Elementary was very excited to honor our Veterans with our Veterans Day breakfast! Thank you to Mrs. Filip for organizing a great morning and creating our Wall of Honor. It was so wonderful to see our students beaming with pride as they enjoyed a special breakfast with their special Veteran.
To all those who have served and those who continue to serve, thank you for your bravery, sacrifice, and service. Happy Veterans Day!
Third Grade Explores Michigan
The Giant Map of Michigan visited Disney last week! Third graders were able to travel all over Michigan and practice their map skills in a fun and interactive way.
Kindness Week Celebration
World Kindness Day was Wednesday, November 13th. Disney Elementary celebrated with a week-long kindness spirit week and activities! The week served as a reminder of the positive impact kindness can have on individuals, communities, and the world at large. We created a school-wide kindness chain, completed random acts of kindness, and practiced using kind words with friends. Thank you Mrs. Ciaramitaro, Ms. Fershin, and Ms. Cavaliere for organizing a week full of kindness!
Dress for the Weather
Ready or Not, the Cold Weather is Coming...
Please be sure to send your child to school dressed for the weather each day. Before we know it, students will start needing warm coats, gloves, hats, scarves, and/or boots daily throughout the fall/winter.
Please take time to label each and every item- because our lost and found gets bombarded with lost winter accessories throughout the season
Please note that, per Board Policy, we will be having outdoor morning lineup and heading outdoors for our 20 minute recess(es) if the windchill is 10+ degrees.
Time outdoors is time well spent for kids, in all seasons
Chipotle Night to support Disney PTO
Support our Disney PTO and enjoy dinner on Tuesday, November 19th from 5-9pm and 25% of the sales will be donated back to Disney's PTO! Download the flyer below to show at checkout!
Red Flag indicates Indoor Lineup
During inclement weather, red flags will be hung near the main entry and outside the back of the building drop-off zone. These flags denote indoor line up. Our students can enter the building at 8:20 via the main entry or door #18. As a reminder, the bus loop is not a drop off zone, this area needs to stay open during arrival and dismissal times. Please either utilize the back of the building drop-off zone or park in a designated parking spot and walk your student to the main entry.
Lots and Found
Our lost & found is overflowing. Items will be outside placed the office/media center this week for students to reclaim items. Items remaining on Tuesday, November 26th will be donated to goodwill. Please encourage your child to check for missing items.
Holiday Assistance
Disney Families in Need
We want to be sure that our own families in need have access to items collected from our upcoming Canned Food Drive and Giving Tree Drive, along with other items that are often donated by community organizations.
If your family is experiencing any type of hardship this winter and could benefit from being a recipient of items collected, please complete the below form to let us know and we'll reach out to you if any items are available.
A Note of Gratitude
During the month of November, Disney teachers and students are reflecting on what we are grateful for. We would love to hear from our valued families and community about what and who you are grateful for at Disney Elementary School.
Please take a brief moment to express your gratitude to our amazing staff by completing the google form below. Your words of appreciation go a long way with our staff and make a great impact on our climate and culture. Thank you! :)
Parking Lot Reminders
We all know that the Disney parking lot is challenging at times, especially during the colder months. We understand that our dismissal can be stressful and intense with the high volume of car pickup students. From time to time it is important to review our procedures. If we all follow our parking lot procedures and practice patience, we will be able to quickly exit everyone safely. Below are a few important reminders:
- For everyone's safety, please try to utilize the pickup line whenever possible to avoid walking through traffic in the parking lot.
- Please refrain from parking anywhere other than designated parking spaces, this includes, parking in handicapped parking spots unless your handicap parking pass is properly displayed.
- Please do not pull through the parking spaces to exit. Those parking should back out of parking spaces and utilize the thru traffic line to exit the parking lot.
- Please turn right on Kelly when exiting the parking lot for safety and to help assist with traffic flow.
- The driveway in the front of the school is for bus parking, emergency vehicles, and exiting traffic only. Please do not park or drop-off/pick-up students in the bus loop. Families may not park on Kelly and walk through the bus driveway at dismissal.
- Smoking and pets are not permitted on school grounds. Please leave your pets at home for the safety and comfort of all of our students and families.
Thank you for your support in keeping our community safe in our parking lots.
Canvas Parent Account
All Fraser classroom teachers provide instruction, resources, activities, and assessments to students utilizing the Canvas Learning Management System. As a result, students have continuous access to the course materials and information regarding their achievement.
Parents/Guardians can also have continuous access to their student’s course materials and grades in Canvas by creating a parent/observer account. In addition, parents of multiple students can easily switch between their students to view grades and assignments within the same parent account.
Parents can use Canvas to
Contact their child’s teacher
View grades, due dates, and events
See, and in many cases access, what the child is doing at school
Support an absent student
View classroom and building announcements
And more!
For the first step you will need to have two devices (tablet, laptop, computer or phone) available to be paired. One device will be used to log into your student’s canvas account. The other will be used to create your parent canvas account.
For parents/guardians of students whom are in young fives through 2nd Grade:
A QR code of your students’ username and password will have been sent home. Use your camera function to scan the QR code to access your student’s Canvas Account. If you are having issues with the QR code, contact your teacher or elementary media tech.
For parents/guardians of students whom are in 3rd-6th Grade:
To log in as your student, go to this website (preferably in Chrome, but Safari is okay):
https://www.fraser.k12.mi.us/myfps Click on the icon that says Canvas Student Login.
Your student should know their username and password. If not, contact his or her teacher or your elementary media tech.

Health Guidance for School
We want to partner with our families to make our school a safe, healthy and welcoming environment for your students. Make sure to send your child to school if they are generally healthy and able to participate in their usual day-to-day activities. Avoid keeping children at home unless they are too sick to participate. We have put together this helpful chart of when to keep your child home and when they can return to school for common illnesses
