NO BACKPACKS THIS WEEK
For the entire last week of school, we will be implementing a "no backpack" policy for all students. This measure helps us streamline activities and maintain a secure environment during this busy time.
To assist students in carrying their essential items such as feminine hygiene products, a small purse sized bag will be allowed. This means that any bags brought to school must meet the following guidelines:
- Size Restriction: Bags should not exceed the dimensions of a small clutch bag, approximately 4.5 inches by 6.5 inches.
This policy will be strictly enforced, and any non-compliant bags will need to be stored in the office until the end of the school day. We encourage students to plan accordingly and only bring necessary items to school during this final week.
Last Week of School - DRESS CODE STILL APPLIES
- The DSUSD Dress Code Policy Applies EVERY day of School
- Students wearing inappropriate attire will not be sent to class
- Parents will be asked to bring a change of clothes for students coming to school inappropriately dressed
- EXCEPTION: For the last week of school, uniform polo shirts will not be required

A Message for 8th Grade Families
DSUSD is a NO 8th Grade Promotion District
As we approach the end of the school year, this is the time of year we begin to get questions from the 8th graders and their parents about promotion. Per DSUSD policy, we do not host a promotion event for 8th grade students. This is not a campus decision.
Here are some answers to the most common questions about promotion and 8th grade end of year events:
- Why don't we have promotion? The district does not allow us to have one.
- Will we do anything for 8th graders? We will have a party for the 8th graders in the MPR on the last day of school, but this is a student only event.
- Will 8th graders receive anything to celebrate the end of middle school? Students will be given a promotion certificate at the end of year party to take home to parents.
- What if my student is absent on the last day of school? Students absent the last day of school may pick their certificates up from the main office during business hours.
- Please Note: Unclaimed certificates will not be mailed home.

Parking Lot and Traffic Safety
Traffic Flow During Pickup/Drop Off
- When picking up or dropping off students, please do NOT stop in the outer lane of the drive way. If you need to stop and wait for your student to get in or out, please pull as far up as possible and stop against the inner curb (school side).
- We must ask that all families drive safely and carefully while in the school parking lot.
Walking Student Safety
- Students should NEVER cross Jackson street except at the cross walks where they are protected by traffic signals.
- Please speak to your students if they walk to ensure they always walk to the cross walks.
