Character Strong
Our Character Strong social and emotional lessons are well underway. The work in grades 6-12 focuses on 3 main outcomes: increasing a sense of belonging for all students, improving skills that support student well-being, and deepening student engagement in their academics, in their school, and in their community. Students who missed the lesson will have the opportunity to make it up during their lunch or self-directed study on October 1st. An announcement will be made during the morning announcements.
School Photos
Between 9/30 and 10/3, students will take their school portrait during their English class. Teachers will set aside a small portion of class time to escort students to C271 to take their photos and then will proceed with instructional time. Any freshman-junior student absent during their English classā designated day can take their picture on Thursday 11/7 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. during any open period. Senior walk-in portraits will still occur on 10/4 & 10/25 from 7 am - 3 pm in C271.
2nd Annual Student Career Expo
Barrington High School is thrilled to announce our second annual Career Expo! This year, we're excited to expand the event into our largest space yet, the main gymnasium, to accommodate even more opportunities for our students.
Scheduled for Wednesday, October 16, 2024, during lunch periods, this expo will offer students in grades 8-12 the chance to explore various career pathways, engage with industry experts, and gain insights into the skills required for their future careers. This year we will have folks representing a wide variety of career pathways including finance and business services, health sciences, dentistry, human and public services, agriculture, food & natural resources, arts & communication, manufacturing, engineering, technology and the trades.
October 15th - BHS Testing Day
On Tuesday, October 15th, 2024 Barrington High School will be holding our annual Fall Testing Day for all 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students. This day helps us gather data to support course placement for students for the next school year, helps students practice for the school accountability tests in the Spring, and can help 11th-grade students qualify for the National Merit Scholarship Program.

Referendum Community Information Meetings This Month
During the first half of 2024, more than 2,500 community members collaborated on a plan to continue to improve Barrington 220's aging school buildings. The final $64M community-driven plan will go to you, the voter, for approval as a referendum question on this November 5 election ballot. If successful, the referendum will:
- Increase Safety & Security throughout Barrington 220
- Build a New Community Auditorium at Barrington High School
- Enhance STEAM and Instructional Spaces for Students
Join us at one of our upcoming community meetings to learn more about the referendum, tour current spaces, and see why these improvements are needed:
- 6pm Monday, Sept. 9 at Barrington High School
- 6pm Wednesday, Sept. 18 at Station Campus
- 6pm Thursday, Sept. 19 at Barbara B. Rose Elementary
- Noon Saturday, Sept. 28 at Barrington High School (immediately following the homecoming parade)
