From the tech hub
Kia ora whanau.
Mrs O'Dowda's Year 7 Design Technology class started working with Micro:Bits today.
Micro:Bits are tiny computers that you can code to do different things. I have encouraged the akonga of this class to practice at home on the makecode.mircobit.org website. They will be able to use the simulator on this webpage to try out their coding skills.
If you are interested in a birthday or non-chocolate Easter gift, many of the kids said they would love to purchase one so they could play with it at home.
Micro:Bits can be brought from PB Tech for $26.00
https://www.pbtech.co.nz/product/SEVMCB0001/MICROBIT-MB158-US-BBC-microbit--Pocket-Sized-Get-C
I will also be running a Micro:Bit competition in Term 2 for Kowhai and Kauri students to win a Micro:Bit.

Weetbix tryathlon
"We had about 20 students from our school in the Weetabix triathlon. We all meet up in our tent and we had parents there supporting us. Everyone gets a medal for participating in the event. We started with a beach run because the water quality was no good, then we ran to our bikes and did the bike ride then we did the proper run part and went to the finish line where we were handed a medal. It was good being able to cheer everyone on." - Olivia Corin, Kauri 3
We managed to snap a photo of Xavier Peters with his t-shirt and medal when he came into school after the TRY-athlon.
