Dear NBMS Families:

I hope this letter finds you rejuvenated after a relaxing summer break. It is with great joy that I welcome you to the start of a new and promising 2023-24 academic year.

In order to ensure a smooth start of the school year, we have planned “Vikings Day”. This will provide an opportunity for students to receive their schedules and have their school pictures taken. Here are the details:

Wednesday, August 2nd, 2023, for our returning students:

8th Grade: 8:30 am to 10:30 am.

Last Name Starts with A-E 8:30 am-9:00 am
Last Name Starts with F-L 9:00 am-9:30 am
Last Name Starts with M-R 9:30 am-10:00 am
Last Name Starts with S-Z 10:00 am-10:30 am

7th Grade: 10:30 am to 12:30 pm.

Last Name Starts with A-F 10:30 am-11:00 am
Last Name Starts with G-M 11:00 am-11:30 am
Last Name Starts with N-S 11:30 am-12:00 pm
Last Name Starts with T-Z 12:00 pm-12:30 pm

Thursday, August 3rd, 2023, for our incoming 6th Grade and other new students:

New Student Orientation (parents and families welcome) will start at 10:00 am followed by photos/schedule from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm.

Please be advised, 7th Grade families and new students: If you have not turned in updated vaccinations, students will not be allowed to to pick up their schedules.

In case your child is unable to attend the scheduled pick-up day, rest assured that their schedules will be posted on Infinite Campus on Friday, August 4, 2023 at 5:00 pm. For those students who miss the photo sessions, we have scheduled a picture make-up day on Tuesday, September 12, 2023.

Finally, we are thrilled to welcome our students back to school on Wednesday, August 9, 2023. We eagerly await the renewed energy and exuberance that the start of a new school year brings.

Parent Volunteers (updated 8/1/23)

Parent Volunteers

Soquel Union Elementary School district requires all volunteers, or anyone other than staff, to be fingerprinted. If you are interested in volunteering (in a classroom or driving on a field trip) at all this year, please stop by the Livescan booth during Vikings Day on either Wed, Aug. 2 or Thurs. Aug 3 to fill out the paperwork and get fingerprinted.

Schedule Change Requests (updated 8/1/23)

Students wishing to request a change to their schedule must submit an a "Schedule Change Request" form in the office beginning Wednesday, August 9th. Requests can not be made through phone calls or email. We will not accept requests for a specific teacher or period. The deadline for requests is August 18th, 2023.

Please follow the guidelines below for Schedule Change requests.

Examples of acceptable schedule change requests:

1. Incomplete Schedule (missing a class)

2. Duplicate Classes (ie: two PE classes)

3. Scheduled in the wrong grade level (a 7th grader in an 8th grade Science class).

4. Teacher Aide Request
