Mountain Lion Memo
Family Newsletter - September 6th
Hello Mackeben Families,
Patriots Day is a great time to honor and celebrate the contributions of first responders and veterans. These individuals play crucial roles in keeping our communities safe and protecting our freedoms.
- First Responders—like police officers, firefighters, nurses and paramedics—are often the first to arrive in emergencies, putting their lives on the line to help others. Their bravery and dedication are truly commendable.
- Veterans have served in the military, making sacrifices to defend our country and its values. Their service and commitment deserve recognition and gratitude.
Our Patriots Day assembly will honor First Responders and Veterans for their service and sacrifices.

Shining Bright - Staff Member of the Week
Mrs. Jody Hilbrant
Jody, also affectionately known as “Mrs. H.”, has been with our district for 14 years - 13 of them full time here at Mackeben. For 12 of those years she was a lunchroom supervisor, and was eventually placed in the lead role. During the 2017-18 school year Jody won Mackeben’s Exemplary School Employee Award. During covid she provided great help to our nurse with inputting data.
Mrs. H is very caring - she cares about and loves all of the students and staff. She is dedicated to doing the best job she can do, and is always here to do it. Every day she makes everyone who enters our office feel welcome. She’s a great listener and problem solver - which leads into her being meticulous and detail oriented. All of those qualities and abilities help her to shine bright and stand out.
On a personal level, Mrs. H is a supportive mother to her 2 daughters, Reagan and Taylor, and her 3 furbabies, Flynn, Cheeto and Luna. She, and her husband Randy will be celebrating their 35th anniversary this year.
Mrs. Hilbrant is a essential team member in the office and we are thankful to work along side her each day.

Huntley 158 Virtual Bulletin Board
Huntley 158 Virtual Bulletin Board
The Huntley 158 Virtual Bulletin Board (VBB) is a way to connect Huntley 158 families with enrichment and educational events and programs in the community. This year, rather than receiving a separate email, families can find these opportunities on the district’s Virtual Bulletin Board webpage in our weekly newsletter. We encourage you to click the link and check out what’s happening for students and families in the community!
To submit a program or event for inclusion on the Huntley 158 VBB, organizations must be not-for-profit or a taxing body based in Huntley 158 boundaries or a surrounding community. Please email your event flyer in PNG or PDF format to kimoore@district158.org and include "VBB" in the subject line. To ensure accessibility for all, flyers must be accompanied by a brief description of your event that includes the name of your event, date, time, location, call to action/website link (if applicable) as well as contact information. Thank you!
