Second Quarter Highlights
Parents and Guardians,
As we begin the second quarter, we’re excited to share the fantastic work our teachers and students are accomplishing! Teachers have been focusing on building a strong classroom community during morning meetings, a dedicated time for fostering positive relationships and creating a welcoming classroom environment.
In addition, teachers have been gathering data and forming small “tier” groups in language arts and math, designed to meet each student’s specific needs. These groups provide targeted support, whether in remediation or extension, and we’re proud of the collaborative efforts our staff has put into making these groups effective.
We also believe strongly in the importance of a strong home-school connection. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher with any questions or concerns you may have.
As winter approaches and temperatures continue to drop, please remember to send your child to school with appropriate clothing for recess. Also, a friendly reminder that students should arrive no earlier than 8:15 am, as this is when adult supervision begins.
Thank you for your continued support!

Parent Information Meetings: Exploring Advanced Science and Math Course Offerings at East and Les Bois Junior High Schools
Parents of Adams, Dallas Harris, Garfield, Riverside, Liberty, Trail Wind, and White Pine Elementary Schools,
We’re excited to invite you to our upcoming Parent Information Meetings to discuss a potential expansion of advanced science and math course offerings at East and the continued offering at Les Bois Junior High Schools. Currently, these specialized courses are available at the Treasure Valley Math and Science Center (TVMSC) in northwest Boise, and changes were made last year to offer courses at Les Bois. Due to parent and student interest, we’re exploring the possibility of making these programs available at East as well.
Our goal is to hear from you as we consider offering these advanced courses on-site, saving students the long commute to TVMSC and allowing them to stay connected with their school community. Many students have been traveling over an hour each day to attend TVMSC, missing valuable class time. By bringing these courses to East and Les Bois, we can provide greater accessibility while maintaining the same quality of instruction with our highly qualified teaching staff. This change would also offer students a seamless transition into advanced courses at Timberline High School.
Join Us to Learn More!
Please join us at one of our Parent Information Meetings to share your thoughts and learn more about this potential change:
Les Bois Junior High: December 3rd, 6:00 - 7:00 PM in the Library
East Junior High: December 11th, 6:00 - 7:00 PM in the Library
We hope you’ll take this opportunity to help shape the future of advanced learning opportunities at East and Les Bois Junior High Schools. See you there!
Elementary Athletics (5th and 6th Grade Students Only)
The Boise School District encourages all elementary boys and girls to participate in various sports programs offered by the district and community. Our goal for fifth and sixth-grade students is to help them develop and improve their athletic skills through monitored competition. We achieve this by forming and equipping as many teams as resources allow and creating supervised competitive school leagues to foster interest and skill improvement among participants. Please see the schedule below for start dates.
Arrival and Dismissal
Please remember that arrival time for White Pine Elementary School students is between 8:20 and 8:40 am. In order to ensure appropriate supervision each morning, students should not arrive before 8:20 a.m. as staff are not on duty yet. Classes begin at 8:40 a.m.
Dismissal is at 3:15 pm. During dismissal, it is extremely important for parents of car riders to remain in vehicles. Please do not stop abruptly in a non-parking area. This creates a back up and is not safe for your student or other students to cross.
Please avoid congregating near the entrance of the school as this creates confusion for students. Thank you for following these procedures to support a safe, efficient dismissal each day.
