Students First, Every Day!

Dear White Oak Community,

Happy New Year! I hope this letter finds you well-rested and ready for an exciting new start in 2025. We are delighted to welcome our students back to school for the second semester soon, and we are looking forward to another fantastic term of learning and growth.

The first day of school for students is Wednesday, January 8. We want to ensure a smooth and safe transition for everyone, so we kindly remind you to drive slowly and carefully as you enter the parking lot during arrival and dismissal. Safety is our top priority, and your cooperation in this matter is greatly appreciated. Please keep these things in mind:

Proceed to the drop off/pick up area. DO NOT drop off on the curb as your first come in.
DO NOT stop at the TK/Kindergarten gate. Consider parking in the neighborhood and walking.
Your child should only exit and enter the car when you are facing Alscot Ave.
Parents should remain in their car and not get out to open the trunk or car doors.
Children should enter and exit from the right side passenger doors.
Please stay in a SINGLE FILE LINE until you exit the parking lot.
THANK YOU for your help and patience- especially at morning drop off.

As we start the new year, I would like to emphasize the importance of regular attendance. Coming to school every day and arriving on time are crucial for academic success. School begins promptly at 8:15 a.m., and the gates will close at that time to ensure a timely start to the day. Consistent attendance contributes significantly to your child's progress and helps build a strong foundation for their future academic achievements.

As we embark on the second semester, our dedicated team of educators is enthusiastic about providing engaging and enriching experiences for your child. We are committed to fostering a positive and supportive learning environment that encourages curiosity, creativity, and collaboration. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to our school office. We value open communication and partnership with parents, and we are here to support your child's educational journey.

Attendance Matters! Arrive On Time!

Please call the school office at (805) 520-6617 to report your child's absence each and every day they are absent.

Remember, you have 5 days to clear your student's absence by calling the school or emailing the office.
Taking trips and vacations during school days is considered unexcused absences.
Under state law, a student who, without a valid excuse, is absent from school for three full days in one school year, or is tardy or absent for more than 30 minutes during the school day on three occasions in one school year, is considered truant.

Toys and Games

Please remind your child that all personal toys, games, and balls should remain at home. This includes Pokemon cards. Thank you for your help.

Apple Watch Reminders

All students that wear Apple Watches to school must have phone capabilities and other notifications turned off during school hours (8:15-2:24 p.m.). This is the same rule for cell phones. Thank you for reminding your student(s).

Safety First!

For safety reasons, please have your child wear appropriate closed-toed shoes daily. Crocs are not allowed at White Oak. Remind your child to eat only their food (no sharing, please). If your child has a significant allergy, please inform the office and the teacher as well.
