RSU 21 Community News 11-8-24
Message from the Superintendent
Dear RSU 21 Community,
As we move beyond the recent presidential election, I want to take a moment to recognize and reflect on the sense of relief that many of us may feel now that this major event is behind us. In our schools and community, we strive to foster a positive, respectful, and inclusive environment where diverse ideas and voices can be heard. Elections can bring both excitement and stress, but now, with the campaigns and debates behind us, we can focus on what unites us—our shared commitment to the well-being and success of every student in our district.
As we look ahead, I am filled with gratitude for the strong partnerships we have across our community and for the unwavering support that helps us grow together, no matter the season or circumstance. It is a fitting time for such reflection, as we also prepare to honor our veterans.
With Veterans Day upon us, I want to express our deep appreciation to the veterans in our school community and throughout our district. We are grateful for your service, courage, and sacrifices that have safeguarded our freedoms.
It is a big weekend for KHS, as the unbeaten football team starts its playoff run tonight against Marshwood. Also, be sure to catch a showing of the fall musical: The Hunchback of Notre Dame. The students, staff, and community members involved have been working incredibly hard on the production. I hope you are able to make it either tonight, tomorrow night, or Sunday afternoon.
Much love,
Terri Cooper

MEDIA COVERAGE: Students, community collaborate on fall musical - Kennebunk Post
This year's musical will feature professional musicians in the pit thanks to the generosity of the Educational Foundation of the Kennebunks and Arundel (EFKA)!
Since 2006, EFKA has provided nearly $1.8 million to teachers and students in RSU 21 and they are hoping to break the $2 million mark this year. Please consider donating today!
Going back in time
First graders at M.L. Day learned about life from long ago during a field trip to the Strawberry Banke Museum in Portsmouth, NH. The students toured many of the historic buildings and made a natural teeth-cleaning powder using cinnamon, fennel, and echinacea!
Introducing....Larry the Lobster!
Students at KCS came up with a list of names for their mascot, then voted on their favorites Friday morning. The winning name was Larry! Officer Shane even put on the costume for the kids during Friday assembly.
Revitalizing the MSK Challenge Course
MSK is still in need of more wood chips. If you are interested in donating, please reach out to the school for more information.
