Dear Alta Mesa Families,

This week is our first K-5 cross country meet at Lassen View. Parents please make sure to gather all of the information from coaches on grades start times, etc. Our home cross country meet is next week on September 26th. Our Alta Mesa Booster Club is trying something new and offering to-go dinner meals at the meet. They have teamed with Bantam Kitchen and will be providing steak and pulled pork sandwiches or macaroni and cheese. Each meal comes with a side and water. If you are interested you can preorder your meal! Check out the flyer below and have dinner taken care of for you that evening!

We will have our first lockdown drill this week. A lockdown drill gives the staff and students practice when it might be necessary to secure the school building quickly to ensure everyone’s safety. During the drill, students and staff will practice procedures such as securing classrooms and waiting for instructions. This helps everyone understand their role and respond calmly and effectively if ever faced with a real emergency.

Please remember to be patient in our parking lot. Our school buses are on a tight schedule so please do not block the bus loop and continue to keep the flow of traffic moving. Thank you for all your help in keeping our parking lot safe!

Tomorrow is a minimum day so everyone will be dismissed at 1:23.

The Riffle Raffle is our classroom teachers main fundraiser for the year. The ticket sales are facilitated by our Alta Mesa Parent Club. If you are interested in selling tickets, please sign the ticket request form that will go home with your student.

All proceeds go to the classroom teachers Booster Club account to be used for many things including field trips and the purchase of classroom materials.

Alta Mesa is creating a Walking School Bus for our students. Every morning, a supervised group will pick up students from the neighborhood & walk to school.

Studies show that students who are healthy, awake and alert perform better at school. By walking in the morning, your student will be more attentive and ready to learn when they arrive at school. Physical activity also improves attention, memory skills, and brain health.

1) Stay healthy

Walking to school is a great form of exercise for your child.

2) It's fun and builds friendships

Walking groups can help form bonds that allow students to feel connected to other students.

3) It helps children learn

After a morning walk, they will arrive at school feeling refreshed, happy and ready to start their day.

4) Improves confidence

Walking to school teaches them road safety, basic navigation skills, and helps them feel more confident.

We are continuing to focus on Habit #1: Be Proactive this month. We are working with our students to use words like "I can" instead of "I can't" and "I will" instead of "I have to". Our students are learning to be in charge of their choices. Many have been recognized on the Monday message for displaying this habit.

Alta Mesa will be hosting our annual Cross Country meet on Thursday, September 26th and we have some exciting news. Not only will we have Kona Ice on campus but Bantam Kitchen will be taking preorders for to-go meals! Please see the flyer below for more information!

If you would like to preorder, Booster Club is asking to get orders in by Saturday, September 21st.

Atla Mesa Family Game Night is back and it's going to be a great night! Please join us Tuesday, October 1st from 5:30pm - 7:00pm for games, pizza, and lots of laughs! We will be raffling off board games so don't miss out!
