Important Dates
Considering Dual Enrollment?
Dual Enrollment allows for students to take college coursework while still enrolled in high school, with those credits going on both the college transcript and the high school transcript. Students may take up to 30 hours of college coursework for free! All 11th and 12th grade students are eligible for participation, and 10th grade students are eligible to take Career Tech Dual Enrollment classes. The attached document gives some of the basic information on this great opportunity. If you have any further questions, please reach out to your high school counselor!
2025 Spelling Bee Champ!
Please help us congratulate Clayton Lassitter, the 2025 District Spelling Bee Champion! Clayton is a student at Carl Scoggins, Sr. Middle School who successfully spelled "wavelength" to stand alone after 17 rounds of competition. He outlasted 27 other contestants from PCSD elementary and middle schools.
Clayton, along with three runners-up, Hannah Nelson from Moses Middle School (2nd place), Shomari James-Thomas from Hal Hutchens Elementary School (3rd place), and Olabode Fabanwo from Russom Elementary School (4th place alternate) will advance to the regional competition on February 22nd at Georgia Highlands College in Rome.
Following the event, Clayton, Hannah, Shomari, and Olabode were congratulated by Superintendent Steve Barnette and Chief Academic Officer Tiffany Frachiseur. Congratulations to all the 2025 District Spelling Bee participants!

Academies Live! Video Available Online
If you missed the Academies LIVE! YouTube broadcast on Jan. 23rd, you can still watch a replay of the video and learn about the Academy programs available to high school students. The page linked below includes a list of common questions submitted by viewers and answered by Academy staff. These Academy programs are specialized to give students opportunities to develop the skills that will prepare them for careers in high-demand career areas. Each program offers students the ability to gain college credit through Dual Enrollment and Advanced Placement courses, hands-on job experience through Work-Based Learning, and industry recognized certifications that will allow them to obtain a job immediately after graduation.
The programs are open to high school students, so current 8th graders interested in one of these unique opportunities to get a head start on an exciting future should apply today! The application window is open now and runs through March 5th. Click the link below to apply.

Kindergarten Registration

All Paulding County children who turn five-years-old before September 1 must be registered for kindergarten. Registration is open now, so make your appointment using the link below. Also, if you know anyone with a child who will be kindergarten-eligible this fall and may not have received this message, please help us out by sharing this information with them. Thank you!
