®️ November SEL Trait - Gratitude ®️
Good afternoon Riverton families!
Daily routines are essential for reducing stress and creating a sense of security for students and adults.
Every day a child is present in school it offers opportunities for learning, growth, and social connection. Students who attend regularly are more likely to develop strong reading skills, perform better on educational tasks, build strong relationships, and feel connected to our school community.
As I gear up for our Thanksgiving break next week and I reflect on this month's SEL trait of gratitude I wanted to let you know I am thankful for you! I am grateful for everyone who has helped to restore a routine for showing up to school while supporting students and families. School attendance is paramount to our students' success.
In reflecting on the above thoughts around attendance I want to thank:
- Our students and their families who do their best to show up to class every day even when it isn't easy.
- Our teachers/staff who have gone above and beyond to help make school a welcoming learning environment where students can thrive.
- Our nurses, business office, administrative and front office staff who help us work together to ensure we are healthy and safe, feel a sense of community and experience the excitement of an engaging learning environment.
- Our many, many helpers - the support staff, PTO volunteers and community volunteers who provide the extra hands and attention our children need.
It is cliche, but it takes a village and I am thankful for the Riverton community members that come together daily to benefit our children.
With gratitude,
Mr. Zagorski

What's New at Riverton School?
Riverton School Celebrates Veterans Day
Last week we had the honor of celebrating our community Veterans! Thank you to all veterans for their service to our country.
Our students celebrated our veterans through song and a flag salute presented by our first graders. Shout out to Mrs. Frankenfield and our Riverton School staff that helped prepare for our celebration.
Thank you to our guest speaker, Ms. Megan Cavanuagh. Ms. Cavanuagh served in the United States Marine Corps as a Supply System Analyst in the Defense Logistics Agency. She trained in South Carolina and served as an Administrative Clerk for Camp Johnson in North Carolina. Her first duty station was Combat Logistics Battalion 1 at Camp Pendleton, California, where she served as the battalion administration clerk. During this assignment she was then deployed to Iraq to support the Infantry Battalion, 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment in the Hadithah Triad region. She was further deployed to Haqlinyah, Iraq, where she was assigned to a critical security detail as a Lioness. After deployment Megan reenlisted and served in Washington, D.C. as the Marine Corps Senate liaison non-commissioned officer. Megan was honorably discharged in 2012 and began working for the Veterans Multi-Service Center in Old City, Philadelphia.
