High School Recommendation Requests
All students requesting a recommendation for high school must complete the following steps:
1. Have a personal conversation with your teacher to request a recommendation.
2. Complete the recommendation request form (linked below by team).
3. Share your teachers' email on the school's application site.
4. Send the teacher an email to let them know you completed the form and thank them for their time.
As Deal teachers receive many recommendation requests, all requests should be submitted at least two weeks prior to the application school's deadline and will be completed in the order they are received. Recommendations are completed at the discretion of the teacher. Students are responsible for maintaining positive relationships with their teacher and meeting high academic expectations.
While completing this form, students are required to submit complete, thoughtful responses that reflect the time and energy they expect from their recommending teacher. Incomplete or insufficient responses may result in the teacher not submitting a recommendation.
Recommendation Request Links:
If your student needs a recommendation from a teacher not on these form (including 7th grade teachers), please email that teacher directly.

Hello Woolloomooloo Families!
As winter rolls around the corner, I wanted to remind families that letters of recommendation do take time and both myself, Ms. Beliveau and Mr. Turchetta are inodiated with multiple applications to complete. Our deadlines differ from parent/student applications, so please be patient as we will complete them to our best of our ability.
Thinking ahead...Community Project is in full swing and wanted to give folks a heads up! Please be sure to talk to your scholar about what they may be interested in doing for their project. We've had many great projects from years past and please reach out to any of us about questions you and your scholar may have.

We will have extra for students that do not have one. If your student has not submitted the permission slips, please email or bring in Monday so we can get an accurate count of students.

Mr. Turchetta - English/Language Arts
Hello everyone!
This week, we started breaking apart the writing process when it comes to informative writing. We started with thesis statements and following a 4 step process to write a solid one. This PowerPoint can be found on Canvas in module Unit 2: Community and Connections if a student missed Monday. We then moved into looking at how to choose strong evidence that supports the points of the thesis statements. Finally, students worked on a Nearpod that helped them with commentary on the evidence. Students practiced explaining how the evidence fits back to the point in a thesis. The Nearpod can be found on Canvas in module Unit 2: Community and Connections.
Next week, we will work on taking all the work we did this past week and creating a draft response of the prompt.
We will begin reading 145th Street the week of 12/16. It would be great if you could so the student can have their own copy for in book annotations and assignments for homework. If you are able to buy more than one copy, we'd appreciate to have extra copies for other students.***
Have a great weekend!
