Weekly Update
ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT - Week of May 19, 2024
HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETICS
BOYS VOLLEYBALL
Record: 19-6
The boys volleyball team, having won the CAL- American Title, entered the South Jersey Group IV playoffs as the 7th seed and hosted 10th seed Hillsborough on Thursday. After the Eagles confidently rushed out to a first set victory 25-20, Hillsborough fought back and won 19-25 to force a deciding third set. With the support of the Flock in the stands, the Eagles secured the victory with a 25-21 win to advance to the SJ Quarterfinals for the first time in the program's four-year history. Senior captain Chriistiian Vichienrat led the team with 12 kills, 3 blocks, and 3 digs. Sophomore Bryce Lake and junior Abdulah Malik added a combined 12 kills to supplement the offense. Seniors Nick Adams, Bill Nguyen, and Jason Mendez had a combined 14 digs denying Hillsborough's hitters numerous opportunities to score. Senior Krish Shah and junior Joseph Vu had 14 assists each while running the offense. Congratulations to the boys team; onto Southern Regional for the quarterfinal matchup on Wednesday 2/29 at 5pm.
GOLF
On Monday, the Eagles took the long trek to Ballamor Golf Club to compete in the CAL Individual Tournament. Five of our Eagle golfers played well enough all season long to earn a berth in the culminating event. Julie Duggan won her second consecutive CAL individual title. The sophomore shot 80 to win the title by six shots! What makes this win even more impressive is not that she won it back-to-back years her first two years of high school, but that she had major back surgery in June following last season. She was not able to start swinging a golf club again until December and did not complete a full round of golf until a few months ago. Her combination of hard work and talent have allowed her to succeed at a high level. We are proud of the way all of our Eagles competed all season long. However, what we are most proud about is that for a second consecutive year, the golf team has won the GPA award for all spring sports. We preach how we are students before athletes and the team continues to succeed in the classroom first and foremost. Nothing makes us more proud than our players showing hard work, integrity, honor and determination both on and off the golf course!

BOYS TENNIS
May 22nd marked the end of a very successful season for Boys Tennis. We love "Shout Outs" in Boys Tennis. The first goes to Coach Mulligan for joining me as Assistant Coach for this season's adventures. A "Shout Out" goes to our parents for their continued support. Definitely a "Shout Out" to our boys for always being hungry... whether it's for the win or for the pizza. All kidding aside, I am so proud of these boys for putting up the good fight, for growing as players and maturing as young men. Lastly, they deserve a "Shout Out" for supporting each other. This team really knows how to build one another up and that's what it is all about.
