ELEMENTARY INFORMATION
Note from our Elementary Principals
Parents, as you may have noticed a couple weeks ago, we started a Kindness Initiative in the elementary. We have already surpassed our 1000 acts of kindness goal and are nearing 5000! We have seen the effects of our Kindness Initiative with our students and classroom behavior. We are seeing less name calling, less teasing, less negativity. The students are excited to do acts of kindness! This is success! Because they met their 1000 acts of kindness goal, our elementary students have earned a dress down day on Thursday, March 27th. They are not allowed to wear sweatpants, or PJs. All other clothing needs to be school appropriate, but we are so excited to hold this reward for them! Thank you for encouraging your students to live our RISE UP values.
We were also able to hold an end of term assembly where we focused on Kindness. Two of our Eagle Council members volunteered to write and give a speech on why kindness is important. They did an incredible job. These two students, as well as many others, are truly embracing the RISE UP values and leadership opportunities we strive to instill in our students.
We are grateful for all of your help and consideration of our carpool procedure and protocol. Having everyone follow those procedures makes an often difficult time of day to be less stressful. We would like to remind everyone with elementary students to please enter the school parking lot during carpool times through the carpool line that flows south on 1100 South.
As we enter the beginning of Term 4, we reflect on the year and how much our students have progressed. We are so proud of what your students have accomplished and the areas they’ve grown in. This includes academic, emotional, and social. With the weather warming up, and the feeling of summer getting near, we would like to encourage you to continue striving for perfect attendance. The end of the school year is full of fun activities, but also is packed with academics and assessments as the teachers are working hard to make sure each child has learned the content before entering the next grade level. Research shows that 64% of students with good attendance (9 or less days in a school year) in Kindergarten and 1st grade are reading on grade level by 3rd Grade. This impacts the rest of their life! Please reach out to your student’s teacher or to Principal Anderson at randerson@americanleadership.net or Vice Principal Stoney at kstoney@americanleadership.net if you have any concerns or questions.

SECONDARY INFORMATION
Note from our Principal - Amanda Kuhnz
ALA Secondary Families,
As our Juniors have recently completed ACT testing this past week and as we approach our upcoming state testing, I want to take a moment to reflect on the importance of Unity (our R.I.S.E. U.P. value for March) within our school community. These tests are a significant milestone for our students, but they also provide us with an opportunity to showcase our knowledge and skills, coming together as a school family to support one another.
Our students and staff are working hard to prepare, and we are proud of the effort and dedication they’ve shown in their studies. This testing period can be challenging, but we believe that through unity, we can help each student achieve their very best. It’s essential that our students feel encouraged by the support of their teachers, peers, and families. A unified effort makes a difference, not only in their academic success but in their overall well-being.
I encourage you to talk to your child about the importance of doing their best, staying positive, and understanding that success is not only measured by the results on a test, but also by the perseverance they show in tackling challenges. Let’s continue to foster an environment where every student feels supported and motivated to put forth their best effort.
Together, we can ensure that our students finish the year strong and proud of their hard work. Thank you for your continued partnership in supporting our school’s mission and our students’ success.
Gratefully,
Amanda Kuhnz - Secondary Principal

Sharp Survey
If you haven't already done so, we would love to get permission from you, our ALA guardians, for your 6th, 8th, 10th, and 12th grade students to take the Utah Department of Health and Human Services anonymous Student Health and Risk Prevention Survey. The survey asks questions about physical, social, and mental health; substance use; social connections; basic demographics; risky or harmful behaviors—and what protects kids from these things.
High School 9-12th Grade Tryouts
