What's Happening This Week:
Welcome to another exciting week in Class A! ❄️ As we embrace the winter season, our classroom is buzzing with fun activities and learning adventures. Let’s dive into what we’ve been up to and what’s coming next!
Last week
We had a fantastic time exploring new concepts and engaging in hands-on activities! The students showed great enthusiasm during our lessons, and it was wonderful to see their curiosity shine.
Next week
Phonics: We will be identifying, blending, and spelling words with the long "e" sound, using spellings like e, ea, ee, and ie. Plus, we’ll learn some new high-frequency words to boost our reading skills! 📚
Spelling Words:
need
we
seat
each
fleas
brief

Reading: Our focus will be on fiction! We’ll discuss print concepts such as the title, book cover, author’s name, and illustrator’s name. Students will learn about story elements like characters and events, and we’ll practice comprehension strategies by using illustrations to describe characters, building vocabulary, and asking and answering questions. We’ll also identify who is telling the story at different points and listen to a story told in the first person. Lastly, we’ll explore the author’s purpose for writing! 📖
Math: In Topic 6, your child will collect, organize, represent, and interpret data. They will solve problems related to addition situations (total number of data points, how many in each category) and subtraction situations (how many more, how many fewer). Be sure to check out the Topic 6 Family Engagement letter attached below for ways to extend this learning at home! ➕➖
Social Studies: We’ll be discussing the past and its importance. Students will learn about the differences between the past, present, and future, helping them understand how history shapes our lives today. 🕰️
Things to remember
Encourage your child to practice their phonics and high-frequency words at home.
Engage in discussions about the stories we read, asking questions about the characters and events.
Review the Topic 6 Family Engagement letter to support math learning at home.
Until next time!
Thank you for your continued support and involvement in your child’s education! Together, we’re making this winter season a memorable and enriching experience. Stay warm and cozy, and we can’t wait to share more exciting updates next week! ☃️✨

Thursday, January 30th - 100th Day of School!! I am excited to share that our 100th day of school is approaching soon, January 30th! While dressing up as centenarians is always a delightful tradition, this year, I would love for our students to engage their counting skills in a creative way.
I encourage your child to design a custom shirt, bracelet, or necklace adorned with 100 items of their choice. This could be anything they can wear that creatively represents the number 100. It's a wonderful opportunity for them to have fun and express their creativity while practicing their counting.
