Greetings CHS Parents and Caregivers
As we begin this exciting new school year at Central High School, we want to extend a warm welcome to both our returning families and those joining us for the first time. Our team is energized and ready to guide students on their journey toward academic success, personal growth, and positive change. This year, we are excited to share with you some new resources and opportunities for Central students!
Resources and Opportunities
Driver’s Education Scholarships - Is your student interested in getting their driver’s license? We are offering 30 scholarships that will pay $390 toward the cost of their driver’s education course as well as the required 6 hours of behind-the-wheel. Families/students would be responsible for the remaining $50.
Music Lessons through Southern MN Music School - Has your student shown an interest in learning a musical instrument? There are 10 scholarships available every semester to help cover the cost of private music lessons. Each scholarship provides $375 towards the cost.
Lifeguard Training - There are 10 scholarships available that will pay 75% of the cost for Lifeguard or Water Safety Instructor Training. This would provide your student with the training required to be a lifeguard.
Community Education Courses - If you’re interested in learning a new skill, there are scholarships available that would pay 75% of the cost of a class offered through Community Education. Learn about the available classes here.
Have your student contact Dan Sharpsteen, Dean of Students, in person, at DSharp1@77.org, or 507-387-3047 to fill out the application.
Experiential Wednesdays!
Central High School is excited to announce a new learning opportunity for Central Students. Every Wednesday morning, students will have a hands-on learning experience to develop skills and knowledge they will be able to apply to their personal and professional lives. Some examples of experiences offered are woodworking, PC building, and food preservation.
The Greater Mankato Mental Health Hub has launched!
This hub was developed by Greater Mankato Area United Way's Youth Mental Health/Suicide Prevention Committee and is hosted by the Center for Rural Behavioral Health at Minnesota State University, Mankato.
The hub is meant to be a tool for parents and caregivers to easily find information on crisis support, local mental health services, parent education, and more.

A Message from Tyson Walker Academic Standards & District Assessment Coordinator
Families of MAPS -
Thank you for your continued support and understanding as we work through the process of digitally sharing student performance data from the MCA Test(s). We are currently collaborating with our software company to get each student’s Individual Student Report loaded to Infinite Campus.
I wanted to inform you that we anticipate the student reports will be available later than usual within the state-determined communication window.
I will keep you updated as we work on this project.
We look forward to working with you over the year!
