It's A Great Day to Be A Bulldog! Bulldogs Don't Quit!
Principal's Note
First Full Month of School
Dear Students, Staff, and Families,
As we prepare to embark on our first full month of school, the month of September most often starts by a day off of school to observe Labor Day. Observed each year on the first Monday of September, Labor Day is at heart a celebration of the hard-won achievements of America's labor movement and a recognition of what workers have contributed to the nation's prosperity. Enjoy this day with your friends and families.
It has been wonderful to see our students settle into their routines and actively engaged in their learning. September will be filled with learning, excitement, and community-building, and I know I am grateful for your continued support.
This month, we will begin administering the FastBridge universal screener. This assessment helps us understand each student's academic progress and identify areas where they may need additional support. Please be on the lookout for communication from your child's teacher about their individual progress around conference time.
Say cheese! School picture day is just around the corner. This is scheduled for Tuesday, September 10th starting in the morning. Be sure to check your child's backpack with information on ordering.
Our annual candy bar sales fundraiser will be kicking off this Thursday, September 5th. This is a great opportunity for students to practice responsibility and help raise money for our school. Funds raised will support classroom resources such as our Scholastic News, student planners, school-wide student celebrations, and other important classroom needs. Thank you in advance for your participation!
We are excited to see students actively engaging with our new curriculum. We are purchase new science and social studies materials in grades K-6 and it has been a long time since the last updates!
Thank you for your continued partnership. I look forward to a fantastic fall season filled with learning and growth!

Important HANDBOOK Policy Updates
24/25 MES Parent Handbook
Please review the revised 24/25 MES Parent Handbook
1) School Start/End Times have changed
- School Hours: 8:00 AM - 3:15 PM
- Morning Preschool Hours: 8:00 AM - 11:00 AM (Arrival time 7:30 AM - 8:00 AM)
- Afternoon Preschool Hours: 12:15 PM - 3:15 PM (Arrival time 11:45 AM - 12:15 PM)
2) Please Be Advised
Please refrain from dropping your child(ren) off or having them walk to school before 7:30 AM. There is not an adult on supervision until 7:30 and this is a safety concern if they are out there without supervision.
2) Student Personal Technology
The usage of personal cell phones and other electronic devices (tablets, handheld games, kindles, smart watches, etc.) are not permitted on school property (classrooms, hallways, gym, blacktop, playground, bus line, route buses, etc). If devices are carried to school by students, the devices must be silenced and not visible (in backpacks) prior to entering and exiting the school property. If this expectation is not met, the phone or other personal electronic device may be confiscated and returned at the end of the day. After the first offense, parents will be contacted to retrieve the device. Any subsequent offenses will result in an office referral and a parent meeting with the principal. The ultimate decision will be finalized by the building administrator(s). If a student needs to contact a parent during the school day, they should let their teacher or the office know. If a parent needs to contact their child during the day, they should call the office and a message will be given to the student. Watches and cell phones should not be used as recording devices for any purpose.

Fun Friday!
Something new we are starting at MES this school year is Fun Friday! On Friday, August 30th, all K-6 students were able to participate in a variety of activities offered. Teachers set up anything from color tag to playdoh, or making paper airplanes. This will be the last 30 minutes of every Friday we are in session. Each month the activities will change and students can pick from their choice each week.
Students can earn tickets throughout the week for following the three R's (Ready, Respectful, Responsible) and exhibiting model behavior and completing work during the week by any staff member in the building. Our goal is to reinforce positive actions and encourage a constructive learning environment for all of our students.
Here are a few pictures to share from the first week!
