What is Constructing Meaning?
What is Constructing Meaning?
Constructing Meaning provides teachers with the process and tools for weaving explicit language instruction into content-area teaching. Lesson planning is driven by the content and academic language demands of discipline-specific learning. Feedback from SUHSD teachers has been resoundingly positive. This is what we've heard:
"Best training ever!" (25-year SUHSD Teacher)
"...Exactly what we need for teaching our English learners." (Social Studies Teacher)
"One of the best trainings I've done. I'm using these materials in a wide-range of courses from ...IB to...LEP." (History, Government, Econ Teacher)
Is Constructing Meaning the same as EL Achieve? What's the difference between Constructing Meaning and Integrated ELD?
EL Achieve is the organization that created a professional development and leadership training that they call Constructing Meaning. It focuses on Integrated ELD strategies for all content area teachers.
