***UPDATED CALENDAR INFORMATION***
All calendars information has been updated. Click the button below. We ADDED incoming freshmen uniform fitting and had to modify some dates for band camp due to teacher professional development calendar and facility conflicts. Below is a snapshot of that. Click the calendar button below for details.
LOOKING AHEAD TO FALL BREAK OCTOBER 11-19, 2024
Wylie ISD has approved the school calendar for 2024-25. This includes a fall break; however, all athletic and fine arts contests, rehearsals and productions will still run during that week. Meaning, even though WISD has a fall break scheduled, there will still be a football game and contests. This means there will be rehearsals too. Below is our plan for that week, so if you are looking to go away some time, here are the dates we will have games, rehearsals and contests.
OCTOBER 11-19 Schedule
- Thursday, October 10 - Football Game vs. Rowlett (home) 4:30PM-10PM
- Saturday, October 12 - BOA Prosper Regional
- Sunday, October 13-Wednesday, October 16 (4 days) - NO REHEARSAL
- Thursday, October 17 - Competition Marching Rehearsal 9AM-4PM
- Friday, October 18 - Competition Marching Rehearsal 9AM-Noon
- Friday, October 18 - Football Game vs. Garland HS (away) 5PM-10:30PM
- Saturday, October 19 - UIL Regional Marching Contest

2024 BAND ONLINE REGISTRATION
We have opened and closed our ONLINE Registration. If you did not do your registration last week, DO NOT FEAR...it will reopen Thursday for the current high school band students to start their registration and will close next Wednesday 4/17.
THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT
In this Registration Portal is all information we need to order items for next year's band. It also gives payment options. Here are the steps to follow and MUST BE COMPLETED BY FRIDAY. Payment is not due until May 1, which can be broken up from 1-4 payments or more if needed.
- Go to www.thatwylieband.net/registration
- Password is twb2024
- Fill out the form
- Submit
- You will receive an email with payment information in a couple of weeks. Payment will not be due until May 1. PLEASE DO NOT TRY TO PAY BEFORE MAY 1.
DOUBLE REEDS AND MARCHING BAND
For obvious reasons to oboes and bassoons, schools do not march with double reed instruments. For double reed players there are a couple of options for marching band.
- We typically rent alto saxophones for double reeds and teach them saxophone during summer band camp. Double reeds have a dedicated saxophone teacher during band camp. We DO NOT just say “here is a saxophone, good luck”.
- Those who have piano experience and want to play keyboard percussion. That is an option, it is just an additional week of summer band camp for drumline camp.
- Some do Color Guard. My daughter did 3 years of guard and 1 year of saxophone (she then wished she did 4 years of guard). We currently have 2 bassoonists in color guard, one of which is the color guard captain and in the Wind Symphony.
- Double reeds who already play another instrument should let us know if they would like to play that instrument for marching band.
Double Reeds can declare what they would like to do at their high school audition; however, if you would like to be in the Drumline or Color Guard we would need to know as soon as possible. There are audition workshops for those groups in April.
