Pevely Elementary Weekly Newsletter
It's one of our most fun weeks of the year...Homecoming Week! It is always a great week to celebrate our school spirit and the Dunklin R-5 School District! Please see the information in this newsletter with the spirit themes for each day this week. We hope to also see you at the Homecoming Parade and Homecoming Football game...Go Blackcats!
Our Lil' Cat PTO has a fundraiser on Monday evening at the Culvers in Crystal City this week. Everyone loves Culvers, so please consider ordering between 5-8PM as a portion of the proceeds will go to our amazing PTO!
Lastly, I want to thank everyone who braved the rainy weather and joined us for our first Family Friday Reading event of the year! We had over 300 guests in attendance and classrooms filled with readers. We love to see it! Thank you for helping us encourage the joy for reading and visiting our school!
Have a wonderful weekend! #GoBlackcats
Sincerely,
Ms. Katie Dunlap

So please join us on Monday, September 30th for dinner at Culver’s! A percentage of the nights sales come back to us! In exchange for a little hard work from us parents and our awesome Little Blackcats!!!
Be on the lookout for a signup to volunteer you and/or your kiddos serving skills!
Caps and Crayons- Kindergarten 2024
We are excited to add this new tradition to Homecoming Week! On Tuesday, October 1st, our Kindergarten students will ride the bus to Herculaneum High School to meet the Seniors (Class of 2025) in the middle of the football field!
- Location: Dugan Memorial Field (Herculaneum High School)
- Time: 1:20PM-1:45PM
- KG Parents are welcome to attend. Please sit in the Visitor Side (metal) bleachers. (You cannot be on the field or track)
- This is "Hat Day" for our Spirit Day, but please have your Kindergartener wear a black or red shirt on this day. The seniors will also be wearing black and red.
If you do not give permission for your KG student to participate in this event, please email Ms. Dunlap at kdunlap@dunklin.k12.mo.us so that we can have adequate staffing at Pevely to supervise while teachers/students attend.
This is the idea from another school who did a similar event: https://www.facebook.com/reel/396375343243220
The Class of 2037 will meet the Class of 2025! 🤍🎓🤍

This is an awesome opportunity for our students and we would love to have volunteers working with them for extra help in reading!

Appointment Dates
School attendance is so important! We know it is not always possible to schedule appointments on non-school days, but these are the dates that we are not in school for 24-25 if you can schedule on these dates. Thank you!
We are hiring...Substitute Teachers!
Buddy Bench Competition
The PE Department is holding a classroom competition during the first semester of the school year! We are asking that students bring in clean plastic lids from containers such as yogurt, cottage cheese, butter, toothpaste, milk jugs, soda bottles, etc. We cannot take lids from cleaning supplies, bleach, etc.
Why are we doing this? 🙂
A former Pevely Elementary student, Morgan Anderson, passed away from a severe asthma attack a few years ago her family has established a foundation called the "Morgan S3 Foundation". Morgan was a huge advocate of volunteering and showing kindness. The foundations will take the collected lids and send them to a company that will make a "Buddy Bench" from them. We currently have one on our playground now and would love to have an additional bench in honor of Morgan! This project will not cost us anything and we will be recycling as well as creating another opportunity for kids to connect at recess. Plus, Morgan's memory will live on!
Thank you so much for your help!
