Rochester Memorial Minute
September 1, 2024
Great First Week at RMS!
On the first day of school, students were greeted with high fives from administration, faculty and Police Chief Assad and several police officers. It sure was a fun morning greeting our students back to school.
We also had a very successful kindergarten BBQ, hosted by our PTO and Rochester Fire Department. Students were able to meet their teacher, climb on firetrucks and meet several firefighters and police officers.
Thank you to the fire department and school committee members, Robin Rounseville and Kate Duggan for cooking hotdogs and serving watermelon. The energy was positive and it was great opportunity for our kindergarten students to meet their classmates too.

Everyone Needs to Update and/or Complete Forms in PowerSchool
PowerSchool Forms
Annual forms (in the General tab) are now available in PowerSchool for all families to complete for each student(s), including information for the nurse’s office. The information in these forms is populated from information you have previously provided, so in most cases it’s a quick review and update as needed. Please login to PowerSchool using your parent account and click on Forms in the left menu. The ‘General’ tab should open with the annual forms for you to review and update as needed.
After reviewing and/or updating, please be sure to submit the form so we know everything is up-to-date!
Forms are mobile friendly, but for the best experience, please utilize a computer.
Annual forms are required by all families, even those that may have recently registered and completed enrollment forms.
Please know there are 2-3 tabs on top and under each tab are forms to be completed.
It is important to scroll down the page and complete each form and select submit at the bottom of each tab/page.
Click here to login to PowerSchool.
If you have any questions, please contact the Principal’s Secretary of your student’s school.
Dismissal Routines
Changes to Dismissal:
- Any changes in dismissal need to be communicated in writing to the office and classroom teacher please.
- As a school, we cannot assume that last year's dismissal routines remained the same this year.
Country Side Changes:
- If your child attends Country Side and has changes in attending Country Side this information needs to be communicated to the school office as well. Please email alisonguard@oldrochester.org as well as your child's teacher.
Bus Drop Off:
- Students in grades 4-6 are allowed to be dropped off at home without an adult present. Please provide a note if this is the routine for your student.
Not knowing where students need to be until the last minute holds up the buses from being dismissed in a timely manner. Please take the time to notify the school as soon as you can.
Thank You!

Parent Teacher Organization (PTO), Year of Events
Rochester Memorial School's Parent Teacher Organization (PTO)
Our school’s PTO is an active organization that supports many school initiatives. This is a great organization that meets monthly. The PTO President, Kirstin Jimenez, will have a table set up during Open House. This is a great opportunity to learn more about our PTO and to become a member. Meetings are held the 2nd Tuesday of every month at 3:15 PM. The first meeting is Tuesday, September 10th.
School Visitors
All of our schools continue to use Raptor Technology for all visitors entering our buildings. All visitors and volunteers are required to have a valid driver’s license or Massachusetts issued identification card to be scanned-in upon entering the building for any reason.
