EARLY DISMISSAL DURING EXAM WEEK
NO EMAILS OR PHONE CALLS EXCEPTED!!
Instructions for Exam Day Early Dismissals
1. Go over the exam schedule with your student to determine when they will arrive late or leave early.
2. In School Dismissal Manager, create an exception that corresponds to when the student will arrive late or leave early.
3. You will type in the notes when the student arrives or leaves. Please see the examples below.
Examples:
Kandi Groves does not have an exam for 4th period on Dec. 17th.
An exception would be made for Dec. 17th under Late Arrival, in the notes I would type, “arriving at 10:00, does not have a 4th period exam.”
Kandi Groves does not have a 7th period exam on Dec. 18th.
An exception would be made for Dec. 18th under Leaving Early, Not Coming Back, in the notes I would type, “Does not have 7th period exam, may leave after 6th period exam.”
Seniors that are exempt will not need to be placed in SDM. They will have an exemption code in Skyward.
FYI
If a student enters the building and plans to leave, they must have it in the SDM app. No exceptions!
Students will not be allowed to leave the classroom until the exam period is over.
We are not taking emails or phone calls for early dismissals this year, please send in a handwritten note if you cannot use the SDM app.
ALL EARLY DISMISSALS NEED TO BE PRE-LOADED BEFORE SUNDAY, DEC. 15. WE ARE HANDING TEACHERS PASSES FOR STUDENTS TO LEAVE. PLEASE PLAN AHEAD

ACT PREPARATION
Would you like your student to have an advantage on the ACT test?
The December 2024 and February 2025 Saturday tests are offering special Test Information Release (TIR) details.
This means that for a fee, your student can receive their actual test questions, a copy of their answer sheet, and a copy of the test answers. ACT only allows this information to be released on specific test dates. This is an incredible opportunity for your child to gain a valuable resource in understanding how to improve their test scores.

ALL DISMISSALS & TARDIES ARE HANDLED THROUGH SDM!!
***PARENTS MUST SEND IN NOTES TO EXCUSE ABSENCES, THE APP IS A NOTIFICATION SYSTEM ONLY!***
All dismissals are handled through the School Dismissal Manager app (SDM.) You should have received your welcome letter with your parent credentials via email. If you have trouble, first try resetting your password. If resetting your password doesn't work, please email kandig@wcs.edu. There are also videos to aid in troubleshooting.
Please register your student. After you register, you must first select your default. Default is how your student normally goes home. Once that is done, you can start creating "exceptions" such as early dismissal, coming in late, etc.
- Please remember to state the time and date the student needs to leave in the notes section.
- Emails and phone calls to dismiss a student WILL NOT be accepted. You can send a note in with your student and it must be turned into the office prior to 8 A.M.
- The cutoff to submit a early dismissal request is 12 P.M. on the day of the dismissal. The system will not allow you to submit anything past 12 P.M. Early dismissals can be setup days in advance. Please plan accordingly.
Benefits of SDM:
- You DO NOT have to come in to sign your student out! **
- Log early dismissals & tardies in advance.
- Convenient, fast and simple!
**Early dismissal requests have to be entered prior to 12:00 P.M. for the day of the dismissal. After 12 P.M, the guardian MUST COME TO THE SCHOOL and sign the student out.
ATTENDANCE
Attendance is necessary to allow students to reach their full potential in and outside of the classroom. Please encourage your student to be present and on time each school day.
Reminders:
- An excuse for an absence must be sent within five days or absence will result in an unexcused.
- Tardy to school-- must provide parent note. Student will receive a lunch detention after two warnings.
- If a student is absent for four or more classes, they are considered absent for the day and a note must be sent in.
For all attendance guidelines and policies, see the attachment below.
