February 2025
Knox Newsletter
February was a fun month at Knox. Our students participated in some fun field trips, completed their ELPAC testing, and had their amazing ASB dance. Read below for some of our February highlights.
State testing begins April 14th. Please make sure your student is completing iReady "My Path" on their laptop every night for Math and English to prepare for testing. If your student has a broken laptop, they need to visit the library before testing begins.

Our students continue to do an amazing job demonstrating the Knox Pillars and the Bulldog Way. They have taken on incredible leadership roles in their clubs, as ASB, as Circle Leaders and in their classrooms. Our Folklorico students performed at Chavez and Balboa recently, to celebrate and inspire our future Bulldogs. Over 100 students were celebrated with a Game Truck for their GPA and Attendance.
We are looking forward to some of our other amazing events coming up:
- The last week of March is STEM week.
- Spring Student-led Conferences
- Moana the Musical
- Our Spring VAPA concert
- The ASB Candyland Dance
- Fun Friday and Saturday School Enrichment
- May is filled with field trips that include: The SD Zoo, Sea World, Safari Park, YMCA, Bowling, etc.
Attendance:
Great job to all of our students that have been working on clearing their absences during the weekend. As a reminder, End of Year activities are LOP events. Students need to clear their absences and tardies in Saturday School. We have some great incentives coming up for students with no uncleared tardies or absences. Knox currently has an attendance rate of 93%, which we are hoping to improve to 97%.
This year we have a reduction in office staff. Parents must report absences online through our Knox website. If you need to pick up your student from school for an appointment, please call ahead of time.
Report all absences on our website: https://knox.sandiegounified.org/ (parent menu)
8th Grade Promotion:
Save the date- May 27th at 4:30 pm (arrival and doors open) at Lincoln
Criteria coming soon for 8th grade students
Families will get 3 tickets to promotion (not including the 8th grade student)

Teacher Professional Learning:
Our teachers are implementing their student goal-tracking and progress monitoring strategy #2 for their Action Research Projects related to Standards-based grading and learning. Teams implement strategies for student reflections on learning, goal setting, progress tracking and more.
Knox is the only school in SDUSD that is certified as a High Reliability Level 1,2, 3 and 4 school.
