A Message from Mrs. Brown
Hello CBE families,
We are very excited to welcome back our CBE Eagles on Monday August 17th! By now, you should have received a letter from your child's homeroom teacher introducing themselves and providing you a copy of the class schedule. Please make plans to attend the Meet the Teacher meetings on Thursday afternoon.
We will be distributing the At Home Learning Toolkit for your student on Monday afternoon. See below for details.
We know you may have some questions and concerns about how school is going to look. Please be assured that the CBE teachers have been hard at work preparing engaging lessons and activities for your students. School may look differently this year but it will still be a positive and growing experience for your child.
As we begin the year, please allow a few days for the teachers to work through the schedule and teach the students procedures and expectations for the online classroom. Please allow your child as much independence as appropriate for their age to engage with their teacher and classmates during the learning time.
As always, reach out to your teacher or to the office staff if we can assist you in any way.
Here's to a great 2020-2021 school year!
Stacy M. Brown

Enrollment Verification and Back to School Readiness
Starting Friday, August 7th at 6:00 am online enrollment verification will re-open only for the families that have not verified and will close again on Wednesday, August 12th, at midnight.
The Back to School Readiness Form will also be available during the reopening of Enrollment Verification.
Application for the free/reduced meals program for the 2020-21 school year now open (8/3/2020)
FBISD is encouraging all families to apply
FORT BEND ISD (August 3, 2020) - The application for the Free/Reduced Price Meals program is now open, and families can apply through the SchoolCafe app. The Free/Reduced Price Meals program offers healthy breakfast and lunch meals to eligible students at no or reduced costs to families.
Families who qualified for the program in the 2019-20 school year will need to reapply in order to retain their student’s benefits.
The District will use the following criteria to determine a student’s eligibility:
- Household income that is at or below the income eligibility levels, or
- Households receiving Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), or Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservation (FDPIR), or
- Children with the status as a foster child, homeless, runaway, migrant farm worker or displaced by a declared disaster, or enrolled in Head Start.
When applying, parents will need to have the following information:
- Names of all household members
- Amount, frequency and source of current income for each household member
- Last four digits of the parent’s or guardian’s social security number
- Signature of an adult household member attesting that the information provided is correct
Families may apply at any time during the school year, should their household circumstances change, including the loss of a job, a decrease in household income or the increase in household size.
FBISD is working to identify students who may qualify under categorical or program eligibility, and these households will be notified of their children’s eligibility status. They will not need to complete a Free/Reduced Price Meals application. Any household that does not receive a letter and feels that it should have can call the FBISD Child Nutrition Department at (281) 634-1855 or at mealapps@fortbendisd.com.

FBISD introduces 1Link, a single sign-in solution
Online learning can open a world of new possibilities; however, it can also come with its fair share of challenges. Easy access should not be one of those challenges. This Fall, Fort Bend ISD is proud to introduce 1Link (Powered by ClassLink).
1Link is a single sign-on platform that allows students, teachers and staff to utilize one username and password to access their digital resources and tools including Schoology, Clever and Microsoft Teams. Single sign-on is an essential tool for productive remote learning. 1Link is web-based and available from the classroom or at home and can be accessed from a computer or mobile device.
All actively enrolled FBISD students can access 1Link using their district email (Ex. john.d1@student.fortbendisd.com) and network password. New student enrollees will be granted access upon completion of the enrollment process. Parents must log in to Skyward Family Access to retrieve password credentials for their student(s), which can be found in the Online Forms section of Skyward Family Access. Instructions for the retrieval of student password information can be found on the Fort Bend ISD website.
For more information about 1Link, please visit www.fortbendisd.com/1link.
Access 1Link at 1link.fortbendisd.com.

Colony Bend Elementary is NO PLACE for HATE!
I am very proud to announce that Colony Bend Elementary has been designated a NO PLACE for HATE campus!! Last year our students participated in many lessons about stereotypes, injustices, bullying , and cultural awareness~ because of their participation and positive actions toward being great citizens; we are honored to receive this distinction. We will continue to be kind and respectful to one another and appreciate each other for our differences! Our Eagles will work to make our community and our world a safe place for all!
