Dear Kindergarten and 1st Grade Families,

Welcome to the start of an exciting new school year at Primary School! We are thrilled to have your child join us for a year filled with learning, growth, and fun.

As we prepare to embark on this journey together, I wanted to share some information about our ParentVue system, which is our online platform where you can find details such as your child's classroom teacher placement, the bus they will ride, and their grades at the end of each semester. This information will be coming out later this month with all the details outlined at the end of this newsletter.

• For Kindergarten Families and New Families: You will be receiving or may have already received an email with activation information for ParentVue. Please follow the instructions in the email to activate your account.
• For 1st Grade Families: You should already have access to ParentVue from last year.

K/1 school supply list can be found on the Primary Website. In addition, many area retailers have a paper copy of the supply list.

Open house and picture day for Pre-K through 1st grade will be from 3:00 pm - 6:30 pm on Wednesday, August 28th. The Primary School building will be open for families to come in to see their teacher, classroom, and take a school picture. On August 16th, families will be sent a link to sign up for open house through MyConference Time. Sign-ups will close on August 26th. We are excited to see you!

Teacher placements for the 2024-25 school year will be released through ParentVue (our student information system for parents) on Friday, August 16th. Kindergarten and new families will be emailed login information and instructions. Teacher requests were accepted in April of last year and were taken into consideration when assigning teachers. All students have been assigned to their new teacher for this school year.

If you already have a ParentVue account at Chisago Lakes Primary and need assistance, please contact our building secretary, Amy Odland at aodland@isd2144.org or 651-213-2202.

Your child's bus route information will be released in ParentVue on Tuesday, August 27th. Make sure to connect with the bus garage on any transportation changes or questions. The transportation department can be reached by phone at 651-213-2020 or email WArmstrong@isd2144.org.

The first day of school for Kindergarten and 1st grade students is Tuesday, September 3rd. Primary School hours are 9:15 am - 3:40 pm.

At Chisago Lakes School District, we utilize SchoolMessenger in order to get our important messages out to our families. In addition to emails and phone calls, we utilize the texting feature for school delays/closings, transportation (late buses), and other emergency situations.

Please note, the phone number you opt in with must match the phone number on your ParentVue account. Log into your ParentVue account to double check your phone number used or to make changes.

For the last three years, cohorts of teachers and administrators have been participating in LETRS (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling) by Dr. Louisa Moats and Dr. Carol Tolman.
