OLVCS Updates
April 11th, 2024
Dear OLVCS Parents and Friends,
Report Cards will not come home today. We noticed a calculation error for MS honor roll and are working with the diocese to make the correction.
Report Cards will come home tomorrow, Friday. (unless the issue has not been resolved)
It feels like we just distributed the solar glasses and now we are asking for them back.
If you still have your glasses, you can return them to the school. We will ship them to Eclipse Glasses USA, who will in turn send the to schools in Chile and Argentina that will be within the path where the October 2024 annular eclipse, otherwise known as the “ring of fire,” will be visible.
Please see more information below.
A special thanks to Ashley Page and parent helpers, Mary Boyle, Christine and Robert Igoe, Casie Ganter, Olga Grove, Paul Fritzsche, and Marlena Vendemia for a successful Father Daughter Dance. Great fun was had by all!
We also had a Night in Paris middle school dance last week. This was a 7th grade sponsored dance and was awesome! Thanks to Mrs. Koehle, 7th grade School Council and 7th grade homeroom parents, Annie Foytack and Seabrook Jacob as well as the faculty chaperones and those parents who chaperoned or donated supplies.
As I have mentioned we are in the unique spot where we are still in the current school year, but needing to prepare for next. I am waiting for calendar approval from the diocese, but will send it in the next Update, even if it is not finalized. Start dates, vacation dates, etc will not change from the draft.
Finally, I hope to see you all on Sunday at the 9:30 Mass. We will celebrate 60 years of OLV and 30 years of OLV Preschool. It will be a time where we can pause and celebrate our wonderful school.
Make it a Great Day!
Samantha

Student Teacher Introduction
Dear Families,
My name is Carlene Stumpo, and I will be working at Our Lady of Victory for the next 8 weeks alongside Mrs. Lauren Waltz. I am currently a senior at Penn State studying kinesiology, and I am working towards getting my certification for health and physical education for grades K-12. I recently completed 8 weeks of student teaching at Hollidaysburg Area Senior High School teaching both health and physical education for grades 9-12. I am very grateful for the opportunity to work with your children to be able to learn and grow as an educator, and have some fun along the way!
Growing up, I was always involved in athletics – everything from gymnastics to ice hockey. You name it, I probably played it. Athletics gave me countless opportunities, friends, and lifelong memories that I will never forget. My passion for sports is what helped me make the decision to become a health and physical education teacher. I strongly believe that physical education can be more than just an avenue for students to blow off steam and get a break from their busy school days. Physical education, while promoting physical fitness and wellbeing, can also be a great way to develop social skills, improve mental health and boost academic performance. My goal as an educator is to instill lifelong healthy habits into a student’s everyday life to help them become the most well-rounded individual they can be!
Outside of the classroom, I am a member of PSU’S Women’s Club Ice Hockey Team, where I play
forward. In my free time, I love to coach! In fact, the past few summers, I have worked as a volunteer ice hockey, softball, and gymnastics coach! This is something I would love to continue after graduation and as I begin my journey “in the real world”! If I am not in the gym or on the sidelines, you may find me snowboarding, at the beach, or spending time with my family.
I am very much looking forward to working with your child over the course of the next few weeks! Feel free to call, email, or stop in and introduce yourself as I would love to get to know you and your child over the next few weeks!
Sincerely,
Carlene Stumpo
