Dear Parents and Members of our School Community
Hazel’s Replacement
The employment process for replacing Hazel as Administration Officer (Part time - Monday to Wednesday) has now concluded. I am pleased to announce that Mrs Kerry Martin has been appointed. Kerry has extensive experience in both primary and high school administration (Newman College, Mercedes College, Presbyterian Ladies College and recently Servite College). Kerry will commence at St Denis on Tuesday 4 March where she will work with Hazel for a comprehensive handover. Hazel's last day with us will be Wednesday 27 March. I know you will join me in welcoming Kerry to St Denis.
P&F Sundowner Picnic
A huge thanks to Nat Scali and her committee of volunteers for the fantastic Sundowner Picnic we all enjoyed on Saturday 17 February. What a wonderful night was had by all. The ice cream van, popcorn, fairy floss, soccer and silent disco were a hit with the kids. The balmy summer night was beautiful and allowed the parents some quality catch up time. Thank you to all who attended and donated so generously to our raffles. What a wonderful community we have!
Year 6 Camp
Congratulations to our Year 6 class who completed a successful camp last week. Their behaviour, manners and participation were first rate. A BIG thank you to Mrs Bakunowicz, Mrs Romani, Mrs Lucchese and Mrs Griffiths for attending and supporting the students and to Mr Franchina for his efforts, attention to detail and patience in organising a fantastic few days away.
St Denis Swimming Carnival
St Denis Swimming Carnival will be held on Friday 8 March for all students in Years 4 - 6. Information regarding this event has been sent to all families.
I would like to thank Mrs McNamara for organising the carnival. Best of luck to each of the three factions.
Kindy Enrolments
Enrolment interviews for Kindergarten 2025 have commenced. Parents/Carers of students currently attending St Denis School are reminded that they are required to submit an Enrolment Application Form if they intend to enrol a younger sibling into the Kindergarten Program for 2025 or beyond. Parents with students in Pre Kindy are also required to submit an application form for Kindy. Due to high demand at St Denis, please encourage family/friends to submit applications as soon as possible.
Changes?
Have you moved to a new house, changed email addresses, mobile, home or work telephone numbers over the break? Please ensure you notify the office at your earliest convenience. Are there any changes to the people you have as your emergency contact details? If so, we will need these updated. Many thanks.
NAPLAN Online
The 2024 NAPLAN testing will take place in Term One in 2024 and run from 13 March through to 22 March. All students in Years 3 and 5 are required to undertake NAPLAN unless parents choose to withdraw their child. Parents wishing to withdraw their child must contact either myself or Belinda Quartermaine to obtain a Withdrawal Form. The form must be submitted by Friday 1 March.
Caritas Fundraiser WALKATHON – Ks for CARITAS
Every day, thousands of individuals around the world need to cover many kilometres to fetch water, obtain food, get to school or market, or simply to survive. To raise money for vulnerable communities the Ministry Committee have organised a fun WALKATHON for PP-Year 6 on Friday 22 March following the Year 4 assembly. Students should come to school in sports uniform but wearing crazy/colourful socks and a small donation (gold coins) to put in their collection box. Students are invited to do as many laps of the course as they can with their classmates. No need for sponsorship just a one-off gold coin donation.
Pupil Free Day & Public Holiday
Tuesday 5 March is a Pupil Free Day. The St Denis staff will be undertaking Professional Learning focusing on student well-being. Monday 4 March is the Labour Day Public Holiday.
Parking
Please note that the parking lot at the end of Orchid street (behind the chemist) is a private car park. Parents are requested to please refrain from using this car park.
