Would you like to surprise your child with a letter in the time capsule? Letters may be written by parents, grandparents, siblings, etc. The content of the letter is up to you, but the students will reflect on some of the following categories in their writing: my life now, what I do, my future. If you would like to participate, please drop off your letter(s) in the TIME CAPSULE DROP BOX near the pick-up table OUTSIDE the OFFICE. This is an optional activity to enrich the project, but we know your child will appreciate reading your writing. The letter should be delivered to the DROP BOX by Friday, May 31. Thank you for your cooperation in this project. Questions? Please contact Ms. Veldman (lveldman@lpslancer.net) or Mr. Smith (zsmith@lpslancer.net).

Isadora
A summary from the Lancer Leader of the Week write up: Isadora is a quiet yet social student who excels in classwork and art, where she creates high-quality masterpieces. Encouraging to her peers and polite to her teachers, Isadora is a dependable and dedicated 8th-grade band member, known for her consistent performance and friendly nature, which brightens her teachers' days. Leading by example in class and Jazz Band, she has phenomenal handwriting and always gives her best effort. Her tennis coach notes her improvement with each practice, and she creatively constructs tennis ball pyramids. Isadora is a kind and welcoming student. Congratulations, Isadora!
Liam
A summary from the Lancer Leader of the Week write up: This eighth-grade Design Production student embodies Steve Jobs' belief that "details matter" in his attitude, work ethic, and personal responsibilities. Humble and attentive, Liam meticulously inspects his work without seeking attention, always aiming for quality over speed. He actively seeks and incorporates feedback to improve his projects continually. Liam’s dedication is especially evident in his thorough cleanup efforts, particularly with the sandpaper rack, which he handles immaculately, often being the last to finish. His commitment to perfection and attention to detail are exemplary, earning him the recognition as Lancer Leader of the Week. Congratulations, Liam!

The Positivity Project
We are excited to continue The Positivity Project! Our students will begin exploring, and then identifying, their character strengths during P2 class. While everyone possess all twenty-four character strengths to some varying degree, understanding and applying one's own strengths can help boost confidence, manage stress, increase happiness, strengthen relationships, and improve academic performance.
For the month of May, the character strengths we will be focusing on are enthusiasm, leadership, and the other people mindset.
The Golden Lance
Every week, data is calculated across five categories: tardies, number of office referrals, academics (percentage of passing grades), grade level bathroom/hallway cleanliness, and cafeteria/lunch recess behavior. The grade earning the highest points wins The Golden Lance the following week and is announced at Family Meeting. 6th grade currently has the most weekly wins but 8th grade has almost caught up to them!
