From the Principal:
Dear St. Bernard Parents,
Welcome Back! I hope that you had a great extended weekend with your kids! It is always great to be back together after a long weekend, especially when we get to kick things off with Mass. We are continuing to pray for those members of our families that have gone before us. Each day that we are together in November we will mention by name 5-10 families who we pray for in a particular way for that day. If you haven’t yet submitted the prayer sheets for November (“The _____ Family, We pray for those who have died:”), you can still send those into the office. I want to also call your attention to two other things that we might lift up in prayer at this time. (1) Our newly elected leaders. Let us pray that the Lord impart Wisdom to them and that they strive to uphold Christian Values and consistently respect the dignity of every human life. With this too, I think that prayers for a peaceful and unified Nation are also appropriate. (2) Our Veterans. Veteran’s Day is next Monday (Nov. 11) and we have our School Veteran’s Day Celebration this Friday (1:45 pm). Let us pray for all of those who have generously given of themselves and their freedom to serve in the United States Armed Forces so that we and all those in our country may enjoy the lives and privileges that we have.
On a separate note I want to turn your attention to the First Week of December! On Wednesday, December 4 (the First Week of Advent) we will host our Annual Kindergarten Open House and 1-8 Information Night. This event was very successful last year and was where many of this year’s new families were introduced to our amazing school. Please begin to share about this event and direct more good families to St. Bernard. While we won’t have room for the same growth that we experienced this year, we will hope to have a full kindergarten class and add a handful of transfer students where we still have capacity. The event is from 6:30-8:00 in the School Building. Now is the time to share with people so they can “Save the Date!” Look for a flyer to be shared and share our Facebook posts regarding this event.
Finally, be on the lookout for our Parent/Teacher Conference Sign-Ups early next week. Conferences will be held on the afternoon of Monday, November 25 and the morning of Tuesday, November 26. Parent/Teacher Conferences are a great time for you to hear about how your child is doing in his/her classes and share any info/concerns that you might have that can help us make this the best experience possible for them. With the end of the Trimester being this Friday, please be ready to register for conferences next week!
I hope the rest of your week is filled with joy! Have a great evening! God bless!
Sincerely,
Mr. Ertel
2024 Veterans Day Celebration: Friday, November 8, 2024
Dear St. Bernard Parents and Students,
On Friday, November 8th, 2024, the St. Bernard students will be presenting a Veterans Day Program in the Parish Center at 1:45pm to honor those who have given military service to our country. Please invite any Veterans you know to join us for this special event. We would like to recognize and thank the Veterans in our community personally at our ceremony. Please return the attached RSVP Form or contact the school office no later than Friday, November 1st, so we can plan accordingly. Thank you so much for your help in planning this celebration!
Sincerely,
Mr. Tony Ertel, Principal

IMPORTANT: EDCHOICE REQUIREMENTS
Our school has 175 scholarships awarded for the 2024-25 school year. There are two important steps that I need parents to complete in order for the school to receive scholarship funds to cover tuition costs:
- For each awarded EdChoice scholarship, I must have an Acceptance Form signed and turned in at the office. Nearly everyone has signed and returned them. If you have not already, please contact me in the school office. Thank you!
- Please follow the LINK to authorize St. Bernard School to deposit funds from the scholarship checks to pay for tuition. The Ohio Department of Education issues scholarship checks on a monthly basis which require this permission to be deposited. Please take care of this immediately if you have not already. Again, most of you took care of this. Thank you!
Please contact me in the school office if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you!
Yours in Christ,
Kenny Glassmeyer, Office Manager

Catholic High School Admissions Links
Due to the high volume of recruiting and admissions events that we receive information for, I'm opting to include links to all of the area Catholic high schools that have either shared information for the newsletter or one or more families have expressed interest in.
8th Grade Parents: Attached is the Archdiocese of Cincinnati Release of Records Authorization Form for high school applicants. I can provide you with paper copies in the office.
Please make sure you are registering your 8th grader for the High School Placement Test and completing all application requirements as prescribed by the high schools. St. Bernard records will be sent according to your forms following the Trimester 1 report cards. I usually send records while Parent/Teacher Conferences are being held on the week of Thanksgiving.

BLUE FOLDERS
Please return all blue folders to school each week.
BLUE FOLDER CONTENTS THIS WEEK:
- Student Photo Packages (according to orders placed)
- Title I Envelopes (from Mrs. Karwisch)
Blue folders will go home with the OLDEST student in each family on Wednesdays, as needed, throughout the school year. These will contain any important handouts or forms that need to be submitted in paper form. Anytime we can share documents in a digital format to provide information or link you to online resources, we will do so instead of filling your home with papers.
