Attendance.... It Matters!
Attendance is essential for all students, even our youngest learners in Developmental Kindergarten (DK) and Kindergarten! Regular attendance builds the foundation for lifelong learning habits and ensures that your child doesn’t miss out on important lessons and activities that support their growth and social development. Each day provides valuable opportunities to learn new skills, engage with friends, and build routines that foster confidence and curiosity. Thank you for helping us create a strong start for your child by making daily attendance a priority!

Arriving on Time! ⏰
Arriving at school on time is essential for your child’s success! When students arrive on time, they have the opportunity to settle in, prepare for the day, and engage in morning activities that set the tone for learning.
Our school doors open at 8:35 a.m., and we encourage all families to aim for arrival a few minutes early to ensure a smooth transition. Starting the day together helps students feel confident and ready to learn.
Thank you for your support in making punctuality a priority—it truly makes a difference! If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the Thomson office at (810) 591-0911.
🎉 🎊 Birthday Celebrations! 🎂 🎈
Just a friendly reminder!
As part of our ongoing efforts to promote healthy and inclusive celebrations, we kindly request that non-edible items be considered for birthday celebrations in the classroom.
Opting for non-food items helps accommodate various dietary preferences and ensures the well-being of all our students. Popular alternatives include small stationery items, bookmarks, or classroom supplies.
We appreciate your understanding and support in fostering a positive and inclusive environment for all our students.
From our Specials Teachers!
Fun to Be Fit! ⚽🏀🏈
Happy Holidays! These next few months will be quite snowy and wet for our students. Please make sure that your child has the appropriate shoes for gym class in order to participate. Moving forward, the students will be bowling and playing many winter themed games in January. I look forward to teaching some new skills to all the students. Remember a body in motion stays in motion!

STEM🖥️👨💻📱
Hello Thomson Families,
This month in STEM, we read the story “How to Catch a Gingerbread Man.” It's about all of the ways the children tried to trap the runaway gingerbread man. After the story, the students got to work with STEM cubes to build a gingerbread house for their little gingerbread man. They also got to work on websites like ABCya.com and Starfall.com, completing activities with gingerbread houses. They really enjoyed this and I always like to see what they come up with! I hope you all had a great holiday and a restful break!

Library 📚
Happy New Year from the Thomson Media Center!
For the month of January, we begin the New Year meeting some well-known characters. We are starting the month with my favorite book as a child; The Monster at the End of the Book starring Lovable, Furry Old Grover. Our other books for January include The Wonky Donkey and The Dinky Donkey by Craig Smith, ending the month with One Day in the Eucalyptus, Eucalyptus Tree by Daniel Bernstrom. Our activities will be making bookmarks, donkey puppets, and a character from the Eucalyptus Tree.
Please have children return their books the following week after check-out so others can enjoy them as well.

🧣 Dressing for Winter Weather 🧤
Hello Thomson Families!
Just a reminder - Please have your children bring outdoor winter gear to school every day to make sure they stay warm while they are outside for recess. They need to bring boots, snow pants, hats, and gloves or mittens. Please write your child's name inside their winter gear. This helps prevent items getting lost at school.
Some families choose to pack their gear in a separate bag from their backpack. We recommend working with your child to check their bag every night to make sure they have both gloves and boots, as well as the rest of the gear, in their bag. By getting it ready at night you'll have an easier time getting out the door in the morning. If your child is wearing their boots to school, please make sure to pack shoes to wear during the school day. It is also helpful when parents help their children learn to dress themselves in their winter gear. We appreciate your help! If you are unable to provide winter gear for your child, please contact the office at (810) 591-0911. Thank you!
