BCSC Statement re: Revised IDOH Protocols (Masks Optional)
BCSC Statement re: Revised IDOH Protocols (Masks Optional)
BCSC Families,
In Thursday's meeting with Indiana Department of Health (IDOH) officials, schools and county health departments were informed that the COVID-19 control measures, as per IC 16-41-2-1 and tied to the Governor’s Executive Order, are being revised and that all decisions regarding COVID-19 mitigation strategies are now local ones.
Given this update from the IDOH and a decrease in positive cases around the district, BCSC will move from “masks required” to “masks optional” beginning Tuesday, February 22, 2022. (Students are not in school on Monday, February 21.)
Due to federal requirements, masks will remain required for students and staff on school buses.
With the change to a “masks optional” environment, we remind parents to keep their children home if feeling ill. Additionally, our nurses in each building will continue to assess students that are not feeling well once at school and send them home as necessary.
Thank you for your support and cooperation as we work together to maintain in-person learning while keeping our students and staff members safe.
Register Now For This 5th and 6th Grade Spark Night Opportunity!
The BCSC Elementary Spark Night is coming up on Friday, April 8 from 6:00-9:30 pm at Columbus North High School. This event is for students in 5th & 6th grade. Students will learn about sparks and participate in numerous sessions that will potentially "spark" their interest in pursuing something that they love and help them develop a sense of purpose.
According to Search Institute, "Sparks are the activities and interests that truly engage kids to be their best. Research shows that kids who know and develop their sparks—and who have adults in their lives to help—have higher grades, better school attendance, and a sense of purpose."
