Kegonsa Family Newsletter
2024 - 2025
February 14, 2025
Greetings Families,
What an amazing week at Kegonsa! We kicked things off by celebrating our incredible bus drivers—we appreciate their dedication and the positive impact they have on our students every single day. Kindergarten and fourth grade enjoyed their field trips, and the weather cooperated (yay!). To top it off, last night’s Game Night was a huge success! Thank you to everyone who joined in—I saw some kiddos heading home with some sweet prizes!
Back to School Planning for 2025-26 has begun. Note the following key dates below:
Grades 6-12 Onsite Registration will be Wednesday, August 13th and Tuesday, August 19th
Grades K-5 Conferences will be Wednesday, August 27th
Looking ahead, we have another fun-filled week coming up. Our second graders head out on a field trip Thursday, and third grade gets their turn on Friday. And brace yourselves—we’re in for another boatload of snow tonight! Hopefully, everyone gets a chance to enjoy some time outdoors.
Have a fun and safe weekend! 💙 Erin

What is the Shining Gilly Award?
The Shining Gilly Award recognizes students who go above and beyond to show exceptional care for others or our school. These students exemplify the qualities we strive to nurture in all of our little citizens—kindness, responsibility, and a positive impact on their community. Whether it's an individual or a group of students, those who receive this award truly reflect the values we hold dear at our school.
Congratulations to Evan (5th), Mya (4th), Alton (3rd) 🥳

Community Music Lessons: For Learners of all Levels
Founded in 1968, the Community Music Lessons program provides college students with valuable experience teaching applied music lessons. Lessons are provided by undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in the School of Music who are overseen by individual faculty members, an experienced graduate coordinator, and a staff supervisor. Lessons are taught on campus in the Humanities Building on the UW–Madison campus.
We offer lessons for all instrumental and voice areas per instructor availability. We are currently only offering lessons for students ages 8 and up. Music instructors are matched with university and community learners interested in beginning or continuing study of an instrument or voice in a fun and supportive atmosphere. Flexible scheduling and performance opportunities with the CML program are an example of the Wisconsin Idea in practice. Click here to register for Spring 2025 lessons.
Please contact Community Music Lessons Coordinator Madison Barrett at cml@music.wisc.edu with any questions.
