Walnut Avenue School Community
November 15, 2024
Dear Walnut Avenue School Families,
We had a very special week here at Walnut Avenue School. Honoring our Veterans was a wonderful way to begin the week. We are grateful for the service of our military and appreciate the veterans that joined us on Monday to honor their service.
Our week continued with World Kindness Day and our kindergarteners had a visit from Farmer Jessica of Dryer Farms. Our PTA Turkey Feather fundraiser also began on Tuesday of this week and goes until Friday, November 22nd. see information below.
The weather has begun to get a little cooler, please remember that we will still be going outside (unless it is below 32 degrees) . . . So dress for the weather :)
Thank you for taking time to read through this week's newsletter and reach out if you have any questions.

WAS Honored Our Veterans π
Thank you Mr. Berke, Mr. Chen, Mr. Folinusz, Mr. Grassia, Mr. Murphy, Ms. Piovesan, and Mr. Schwartz for your service and for joining us at Walnut Avenue School this past Monday, November 11, 2024.
Farmer Jessica Visits Kindergarten at WAS
Farmer Jessica, from Dreyer's Farm, visited the kindergarteners. The children learned about vegetables and the different types of pumpkins. Farmer Jessica decorated a pumpkin using cut up vegetables for eyes, ears, nose, mouth, eyebrows, and hair. The pumpkins came out adorable. The children were all smiles watching the pumpkin transform. This was a very sweet visit with lots of laughs. Farmer Jessica shared stories of Cranford, going to kindergarten in Cranford, and singing a family pumpkin song.
Dress For The Weather
Please know that we will go outside for recess and walks when the temperature is 32 degrees or above.
Students will be expected to wear the outerwear that they arrive to school wearing when we are out at recess and/or on walks.
