Hello!
A concern about students wearing smart watches at the elementary and middle school levels has surfaced as an issue within the daily instructional environment during this year. Within the classroom environment, concerns about student’s social emotional health, the potential for academic dishonesty, and the lack of student interpersonal connections are all linked with smart watch/smart phone accessibility. Our elementary schools and middle school have worked to try to navigate smart watches as that device has increased the ability to communicate like a cell phone (since many students who don’t have a cell phone at least have a smart watch for basic communication).
We are having our elementary schools and middle school update their guidelines to reflect that students will be required to keep their smart watches turned off and in their backpacks/lockers in the 2024-2025 school year. As always, if parents need to contact their child for urgent matters at any point in the school day, they can contact the main office who can contact their classroom teacher. Please feel free to reach out to your principal if you have any questions.

Attention 6th Grade Families!!
Save the Date! October 16-18th, 2024, all WFB Middle School 7th graders will attend the 7th Grade Courage Retreat at Camp Anokijig in Plymouth, Wisconsin.
What is the 7th Grade Camp (also referred to as the 7th Grade Courage Retreat)? 7th Grade Camp is not just a fun outing; it's an opportunity for all 7th grade WFBMS students to develop social and leadership skills and connect with their peers in a unique outdoor setting.
WFB Middle School and Camp Staff will organize and help supervise activities. 7th grade parents are expected to volunteer as overnight and/or daytime chaperones. We know this is a big ask, which is why the PTO is working with the 7th grade team to get the word out to parents now in the hopes the extra lead time will enable parents to schedule time to help out during the campout.
We will be asking for parents to volunteer as either overnight chaperones on the evenings of October 16th and 17th, or daytime volunteers on October 17th and 18th to help with camp supervision.
Plans for the 2024 7th grade Courage Retreat are still in the works, and details have not been finalized. There is a lot more information to come!
All you need to do now is to please mark your calendars and watch for emails from the school closer to the start of the 24-25 school year, and follow the WFBMS PTO on Facebook or Instagram!

2024 WFBHS Grad Grams
Here is your opportunity to send a thoughtful message to the graduating Seniors of Whitefish Bay High School. For $1.00/each you can purchase a 1/2 sheet Grad Gram (example below), write out your personal message, decorate, add photos on backside & return - then- our volunteers assemble the Grad Grams into a personalized book. Each Senior will receive their book at graduation rehearsal full of well wishes from family, friends & neighbors, something they ALL look forward to receiving. A Grad Gram is the perfect way to congratulate them on their accomplishments – and – it’s become a time-honored tradition for the Seniors. As a parent, you may want to consider purchasing a few extra and handing them out to important people in your child’s life, like grandparents, coaches, mentors, siblings, aunts, uncles, etc. ALL GG’s are DUE by Monday, JUNE 3rd.
New Immunization Requirements
The Department of Health Services has updated immunization requirements for school-aged children. These requirements for school-age children will go into effect at the beginning of the 2024–2025 school year.
Changes include:
- Meningococcal (MenACWY-containing) vaccine has been added as a requirement for students entering seventh grade, and a booster dose for eligible students entering 12th grade.
- If a child has had chickenpox, a parent report of chickenpox disease is no longer acceptable for exemption from the varicella (chickenpox) vaccine requirement. Children must have a diagnosis of chickenpox from a qualified health care provider (M.D., D.O., N.P., or P.A.) to be exempt from this requirement, however existing exemption options still apply.
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services website includes additional information. We encourage you to contact your healthcare provider if you have specific questions, or to schedule an appointment for a vaccine.
