Bresnahan Gratitude Garland
Last Friday, Bresnahan students assembled our second annual Gratitude Garland - and it almost wrapped around the entire school!
For the past several weeks, students have made links on the garland with handwritten notes expressing gratitude. This is a fantastic social emotional teaching opportunity for us all to realize the power we have to change our thoughts, which then impacts how we feel, which then impacts the choices we make and how we behave. It's a great tool to help get kids in a good heart and head space for learning.
With the help of parent Scott Ripley, we were able to capture this fun event with drone footage over the Bresnahan. If you have a moment, please check out this video of our special morning together.
24-25 Class Placement
We are in the process of class placement for the 2024-2025 school year. This is a thorough, thoughtful process that considers the whole child’s academic, social and behavioral needs. The entire Bresnahan staff participates in this process to ensure that students are mindfully placed to have a successful school experience. With the large number of students in the building, we cannot take placement requests. Thank you for understanding and trusting the process.
CORI Process
All volunteers must have an up-to-date CORI on file with the Newburyport Elementary Schools.
Bring the completed CORI form along with your driver's license to the Administrative Assistant at our school office.
Please note CORI's are only valid for three years; after that you must reapply.
Fingerprinting
In keeping with Newburyport's continued focus on safety, volunteers/parents are required to be fingerprinted in two instances:
If you are going on a day or overnight field trip and will have direct and unmonitored contact with children;
If you are a lunchroom volunteer and will be bringing children out to the playground. Parents who volunteer in the classroom DO NOT need to be fingerprinted, if there will always be another adult present.
Massachusetts has contracted with MorphoTrust for fingerprinting. To book an appointment, visit the Massachusetts IdentoGO Website.
Please be aware there is a $35 fee for fingerprinting. Fingerprinting does not expire.
Kindergarten Registration 2024-2025
Registration for the 2024-2025 academic year begins February 1, 2024. There is no deadline for public kindergarten. Please submit your registration at your earliest convenience.
See our Enrollment Page for required forms and documents.
Walk and Roll Wednesday's
Please join us for Walk and Roll on Wednesday's! Let's get out of our cars and meet up as neighbors and friends to walk, bike, or roll to school. Walking and rolling is a healthy way to start the day, it's beneficial for the environment, promotes independence and it's FUN! Join a neighborhood meet-up spot (see attached maps for locations), or make your own!
Newburyport Youth Services still has spots available in a variety of their summer programs. Please follow this link with additional informatation https://newburyportma.myrec.com/info/default.aspx

Join the 2024-2025 PTO Board!!
The PTO is a great way to get involved and make an impact on our school community. We have specific openings for Assistant Treasurer, Vice President, and Molin teacher reps for next year's board. Additionally, all board positions can be shared so if you have interest in other areas, please reach out. The more the merrier! The PTO represents the Bresnahan, Molin and Nock schools, and meets once a month during the school year (but these meeting obligations can be shared as well!) Please email newburyportpto@gmail.com if you are interested. Thank you and we hope to see you next year!
