Nov. 5th-12th SNYM News
Welcome to the St. Nick's Youth Ministry Weekly Update
Many of our Youth have parents who are currently serving, or have served, as members of our United States Armed Forces. This weekend we honor them on Veterans Day.
Please encourage your Youth to pray for those men & women, past and present.
And, to all of our Veterans, thank you for your service & sacrifice. - Beth

MIDDLE SCHOOL/ EDGE GROUP
RECAP FOR NOV. 5
All regular RE classes resumed and we were so happy to have the EDGE class back in the Youth Room!
We began by reviewing the first half of our second session of Symbolon, Divine Revelation.
Then the Youth named characteristics of Jesus and how they could imitate Him during the week.
We watched the 3rd video and discussed what is meant when it is said that, "Jesus was no greater a teacher than when He was hanging on the cross."
After watching the final video in the session, we discussed the analogy of the 3-legged stool with each leg representing Sacred Scripture, Sacred Tradition, and the Magisterium. How if one leg is removed, the stool will topple, just as we need all three to ensure God's Divine Revelation is handed down in the Church without error.
Because we celebrated All Saints Day last week, the Youth completed Seek and You Will Find. They went around the room to find other Youth with the interests listed on the sheet, and then those Youth had to sign on the line next to the Saint that shared those interests. Everyone had a sheet filled with signatures, received a Ring Pop, and learned more about the Saints & each other!
As we ended class, each Youth received an info sheet from this session to take home to their Parents with a coupon attached for a FREE Frosty!
My apologies for the limited photos. Miss Elizabeth and I missed the EDGE class so much, and we were so busy just being with them that we forgot to take pictures. We will work on getting more photos in the future!

HIGH SCHOOL/ YOUTH GROUP
RECAP FOR NOV. 5
The HSYG continued in learning more about Indulgences. We started by watching the video linked below to understand their misunderstood history, how we can gain them anytime, and why we should. The teens then provided suggestions of rote prayers, along with ways they can fast and give alms. Then the teens led us in praying the Act of Contrition as a group.
They also continued celebrating the November dedication with a Saints Escape Room!
The 4 teams had one hour to complete all of the tasks, finding clues, breaking codes, and deciphering puzzles. There were a few hiccups along the way, but they all collaborated with their individual strengths and skills to work together.
Unfortunately none of the teams won the grand prize for escaping before the one hour expired, but because they were able to find the correct answers and escape with the intercession of the Saints, they all received a certficate with a coupon for a FREE Frosty!
This is a VERY competitive group of young people, but many of the teens expressed their enjoyment of the Escape Room, and asked to do more in the future!
COMING UP ON NOV. 12
The HSYG voted to have a Finger Foods Potluck this week!
We will also be learning about another Saint with a new game!
