The Bronco Roundup
Fifth Edition-March 2024
A Message from Our Principal, Mrs. Guillory:
As we enter the last 9-weeks of the 2023-2024 school year, I would like to encourage students to reflect how resilient they are. To be resilient means to have the ability to bounce back or recover quickly from difficulties, setbacks, or adversity. Resilience involves adapting positively to challenges or stressors rather than being overwhelmed or defeated by them. Our students have mental toughness, flexibility, and the capacity to maintain a sense and hope even in the face of difficulty. Resilient individuals often demonstrate problem-solving skills and optimism which that helps them navigate and overcome obstacles. Our Broncos can overcome ANYTHING!

Algebra I EOC Exam
Students in Ms. Adams' Algebra I class will take their EOC, End of Course Exam, on the mornings of Monday, May 13 - Tuesday, May 14.
Interview with Bailey Smith by Hallie Buckner-Editor in Chief
How do you feel about taking the EOC?
I feel a little nervous about it only because recently there has been a lot of information thrown at us in such little time, making it overwhelming.
Do you feel prepared for the test?
I feel as though Ms. Adams has done her part in preparing us for the test, but it’s the student’s responsibility to practice the lessons and pay attention. Personally, I think I’m prepared, but I am a terrible test taker and my own overthinking mind is what gets to me.
Would you recommend taking algebra for the upcoming 7th graders, despite the pressure of the test?
YES!!! I would strongly advise the 7th graders to make it a goal of theirs to get into algebra 1. There’s a good chance they will pass, and the hard work they put into the class will be worth it if they do. The EOC in the end will definitely be the toughest, but dedication and open minds will take care of that. What benefits do you get if you pass the test?
If you pass the EOC, you get the benefit of not taking it again your freshman year, or at all in high school!! You would’ve gotten it out of the way, and moved right into a sophomore class, geometry, your freshman year. You’ll be a step ahead of everyone else throughout your high school math years.EOC Preparedness and Pep Talk from Ms. Adams by Bennett Blanchard
Preparation:
Start memorizing all your formulas we have covered thus far
Make sure you still have your perfect squares memorized
Go back and read through all your old notes and complete any homework assignments your might have skipped
"Gameday" Tips:
BREATHE
When you first walk into the testing room and are given your scratch paper, I would start jotting down all the formulas you can think of that we have used this year. This will free up some brain space and give you something to reference during the test if you end up getting stumped on a problem.
During the test, pace yourself and pay attention to the time. Bring a watch since the time will not be on your computer screen.
Never leave a question blank; a guess is better than nothing.
Be confident. You got this!!
"Champions are made in the off season." -Steve Szabo
"Life is full of battles we must win in order to prosper. That is why I love to connect everything we face in life back to athletics. Athletics is where many of us learn how to handle the battles of life and preserver through the difficult times. I like to think of the LEAP2025 Algebra I EOC as our championship game. It is the work we do and put in before the big game that reflects our outcome in the big game. Many times, this is the work one puts in on their own, when no one else is watching and that is what separates the real MVPs from the rest of the team. A player cannot merely show up to the championship game and expect to play and dominate the game without ever putting in the work and practice beforehand to better themselves and the team for success."
-Ms. Adams
"Your success and happiness lie with you." -Helen Keller
The Bronco Roundup wishes all students taking the EOC in May the best of luck!

Below you will find what KINDNESS means to some of our MBMS students, teachers, and faculty!
"Kindness Is..." by Valentina Trinidad
Lorelei Duff
"Kindness means that when someone is down, you lift them up. Like if someone is all alone, you sit by them at lunch. Even a smile can make someone's day."
Roxie Guillory
"Kindness means caring and being there for each other, or helping someone when they need help, or making someone feel happy. Kindness means that you are willing to do almost anything to make someone's day."
Gwendolyn Jackson
"Kindness means to treat someone how you want to be treated. Being kind to someone makes their day so much more exciting and joyful. Spreading kindness goes a long way and will make the world a better place."
Ashton Elmer
"For me kindness means that you don't kick someone when they fall, you help them reach their goals in life. You help them through everything, no matter what if its bad home life, to bad grades you help them out of that hole that they dug. Or at least attempt to."
Anna Bell Harris
"To me kindness is something not many people have. Kindness is something simple to share but some people rather ''not waste there time on it'' even though it is something that is very easy to share, people decide to be mean which takes a lot more time and energy then to do something kind."
Delta Soileau
"For me kindness means to be there when someone needs it. It also means that if someone is down on themselves, then you pick them up. It means standing up to bullies for your friends. Another thing kindness means is that when someone needs help with something, anything, you help them-not sitting there laughing that they can't get anything right."
Avery Hooper
"To me, kindness means to help someone when they are struggling and trying to cheer someone up when they are feeling sad about something. Kindness means to stand up for someone or help someone not for a prize or money, but just to be kind. If you are kind to someone and expect a reward or/and get mad when you don't get a reward , than you are not kind and if don't learn to not expect something in return for helping someone, than you will never truly be kind."
Kyleigh Thibodeaux
"To me, kindness is a way of showing someone how much they mean to you and care about you. I think everyone should be kind to anyone because we all are human beings and should be treated equal."
Beaux Webb
"Kindness is offering to do something for someone else because you want to, not because you have to. It is doing something for someone even though you don't expect anything in return. Being generous, tolerant and accepting. Kindness is choosing to do something that helps others or yourself, motivated by genuine warm feelings. Kindness, or doing good, often means putting other people's needs before our own. It could be by giving up our seat on a bus to someone who might need it more, or offering to make a cup of tea for someone at work."
Britton Book
"Kindness means a lot to me because kindness is an option and nobody has to be kind and when someone is kind to you it makes you happy because not every is or has to be kind to you."
Emily Blanchard
"Kindness to me means showing your friends you're happy to be around them/even have them, to help somebody if you notice them struggling, showing your parents how much you appreciate them, donating to the homeless/the people who are struggling. Kindness to me means to be as nice as possible and to show you care. To me kindness isn't giving up somebody just because someone else told you to. To me kindness isn't spreading rumors about people."
Jayce Mann
"Kindness, to me means to be nice to someone in your own way, and try to make others pay it forward by being kind to them."
Kindness in ACTION!
"Someone said that Kindness is love in action. How perfect! I find that going to the Bible is the best inspiration and instruction for us. God tells us what real love is and how it behaves. In 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 it says, "Love is patient and love is kind, it does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not easily angered or resentful; it does not rejoice in wrongdoing, but rejoices in the truth. Love bears all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails.' I try to live by these words and practice loving kindness in action each day...but I still have much work to do."
-Mrs. Best
"To me, kindness means saying or doing something toward another living creature that brings them comfort, joy, or love without expecting anything in return."
-Mrs. Deanna Boudreaux
Let's hear it from YOU! What do you think Kindness is?
Bronco Beat-More Interviews from Around Campus
Cheer/Dance Tryout Interviews by Regan Kennedy
Returning Jr. Broncette Hopeful, Katelyn Swift:
How was Broncette tryouts for you? Were you nervous, excited, etc?
"For me, tryouts were good. It was one of the best tryouts I've ever done. At first, I was very nervous, but once I got to tryouts, I wasn't really nervous anymore."
What do you have to say about the kids that are trying out for Broncettes? Any advice?
"If I could say anything to the people that want to tryout this year, or any year, is to start stretching and practicing at home. Practice makes perfect! Also another thing would be to always smile. To whoever that is trying out this year, good luck and I can't wait to see y'all at tryouts!❤️
MBMS Cheer Hopeful, Harper Thornton:
Are you excited for cheer? A little nervous?
"I am actually both!"
If you make the team, do you have any advice for the kids that want to try out?
"Yes, just stretch and practice and don't be nervous!"
*Congratulations to both of these girls! Katelyn and Harper both made their desired teams!
Ms. Courtney Craft-Jr. Broncette Sponsor
Ms. Craft, how would you describe coaching the Broncettes?
"I love coaching Broncettes because mainly I love dance so much. I have danced my whole life, and it is fun to share that passion with others."
Do you have any advice for 6th graders or any new girls trying out for Broncettes?
"Advice for 6th graders, or anyone trying out, would be to try your absolute best. Come to tryouts with a positive outlook and show your personality. Dance skills that should be practiced is your best right split, right split leap, high kicks, and right double turn."
Are you excited that tryouts are around the corner? Why?
"I am very excited for tryouts and the new squad to come. It's always fun learning the girls' personalities and getting to know them. Every year is different but it's exciting to get them ready for the next year to come."
But what happens when your outcome isn't what you were hoping for? We have some insight from a pretty special young lady who experienced just that:
"Jr. Broncette tryouts were a little bit challenging. The only thing that made it that way was that I just forgot some parts of the dance and it was kind of hard, to keep a smile on my face once I knew I messed it up. Even though I didn't make it, I'm determined to keep practicing because I have faith I'll get better and make it next year!"
What amazing strength and positivity! We all wish you the absolute best of luck next year!
Softball Interview with Addy Domingue by Hallie Buckner, Editor in Chief
What do you, as an 8th grader, have to say about this year's season?
"This year's season was by far my favorite out of them all! We worked so hard and exceeded our expectations for this season. It was the most supportive team I’ve ever been on in my three years playing. I also had the opportunity to be coached by some of the most amazing coaches."
Are you trying out for the team in high school?
Yes! I’m trying out for the team in high school.
Are you sad that this year is over? Or are you ready for the new year?
"I’m a mix of both. I’m sad that my middle school softball experience is over, but also very grateful for the lessons learned and the wonderful memories, but I’m also ready to go to high school and see what my future holds!"
What is your favorite memory from all your years on the team?
"My favorite memory from all three years of my playing time was one time, we had practice and I forgot to pack one of my socks, so I only wore one sock to practice and I earned the nickname “One Sock.”
Welcome to Moss Bluff Middle School, Deputy Ana Anderson!
