Family Issue #7
A Week: 9/30 - 10/4/2024
Greetings Lettie Dent Families,
October is just around the corner! October 2nd marks a special day of celebration as we recognize both Building Service Worker (BSW) Appreciation Day and World Smile Day.
We appreciate our LMDES Building Services Team! The dedication of our BSW team keeps our school running smoothly, and their efforts make our learning environment safe and pleasant. We are grateful and fortunate to have these fantastic gentlemen at LMDES:
- Mr. Duaine Johnson, Building Services Manager
- Mr. Rashaun Maddox, Building Services Assistant Manager
- Mr. Dean Brawner
- Mr. Alvin Shade
World Smile Day is a day to spread joy and kindness, reminding us of the power of a simple smile. If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours!
Kindly,
Mrs. Lindsay Brenfleck, PrincipalMr. Joseph Farrell, Assistant Principal

Family/Teacher Conference 'Day'
Monday, October 14, is a two-hour early release for students. SMCPS has designated the two-hour afternoon block (2:00-4:15 pm) for Family/Teacher Conferences.
Due to the limited timeframe, teachers will reach out to students’ families only if they feel a conference is necessary. If you do not receive a communication from your child’s teacher by Tuesday, October 8, but would like to discuss your student’s progress, please contact the classroom teacher. Family/teacher conferences can be scheduled anytime throughout the school year!

Fundations Flexible Grouping
1st - 3rd Grade Students
To best support our students in building strong foundational reading skills, we will implement flexible grouping during our Fundations instruction. This approach allows us to group students based on their instructional needs, ensuring they receive targeted support to strengthen their learning.
Your child may work with a different teacher during this time but will always be with a member of our dedicated team. Please contact your child's classroom teacher or grade-level Instructional Resource Teacher with any questions.
