Dear WBMS families,
What a week it’s been! I am looking forward to a full “normal” week next week.
I want to give a big shout-out to our 8th Grade Symphonic Band for being selected over all other bands who auditioned in the state to perform at the Georgia Music Educators Association conference next week. Parents got a preview last night at the “send-off” concert which was performed at the Alpharetta High School auditorium. Our student musicians and band directors have worked very hard to create a complex program which is a treat to behold. I am so very proud of their work and wish them all the best as they travel to Athens on Thursday of next week to perform. This is quite an accomplishment for our students and band directors and I am so excited for them.
Have a nice weekend!

School Governance Council Elections Coming Up!
It is time for the election of new members to our School Governance Council. The School Governance Council has both parent/guardian and teacher positions open for election. Parents or guardians of students who will be attending our school during both the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 school years are eligible to run for the parent/guardian SGC positions. Our School Governance Council (SGC) plays a critical role in the success of our school. The SGC works with school leadership and the community to help determine the long-term direction of the school, design innovative solutions to increase academic achievement, and serve as school ambassadors to the local community. Specifically, the School Governance Council has the following powers:
• Create, approve, and monitor the implementation of the school strategic plan
• Manage the Request for Flexibility process
• Approve the annual budget recommendations and related allocations
• Participate in the hiring of the principal, in the case of a vacancy
• Provide annual feedback to the Area Superintendent on principal performance
We are very excited about the work and value-add of our SGC. We hope that you will consider running for a position! The Candidate Declaration period ends March 28th and voting will take place April 16 – April 23. In the meantime, if you would like more information about the charter system or SGC elections visit our school’s website.

UPDATE: Trex School Recycling Program
At this time we are pausing the Trex School Recycling program at WBMS. We want to extend a huge thank you to the entire WBMS community for supporting this program. Over the last 2.5 years, the Webb Bridge community has collected over 700 pounds of soft plastic for recycling! This is 700 pounds of plastic that will never find its way into our waterways, pollute our ecosystems, and endanger our marine wildlife. We hope that you have formed a lifelong habit and will continue to recycle soft plastics on your own. Kroger has been an amazing partner in this program, and you can continue to drop off soft plastics (#2 and #4) in their collection receptacles. We look forward to beginning the recycling program again in August 2025, when the new school year begins. Thank you again Jaguars!

Engineering Pathway
Courses within Alpharetta High School’s engineering pathway is made of three class Foundations of Engineering, Engineering Concepts, and Engineering Applications. Students in the first year learn various power tools, SolidWorks, (computer aided design) and Arduino programming. Then progress in the second year to having more control of their projects and skills including milling and welding. In final year of the pathway students have total control of the engineering projects and skills.
Example Projects completed during the pathway designing and building a cardboard chair. Designing, Building and Racing Small Air Compressed Cars. Automatic Can Crusher, anything involving , motors, pneumatics, and microcontrollers.
At the end of the pathway, students will earn a pathway completer certificate and a metal. Pathway completers will sit for the End-of-Pathways Assessment where they can earn the End-of Pathway cord for graduation. Both recognitions are great for resumes.
IB- Design Technology: International Baccalaureate’s new designing course focuses on product design from raw material to final product with an effort to ensure the product is a benefit to society.
Examples are: Sudden Cardiac Arrest Detection Device, a gimbal for a video camera, ultrasonic walking stick for the blind, anything a student can imagine and design.

JOIN PTA!
Our school was named a 2022-2023 National PTA School of Excellence!
To earn this designation WBMS had to demonstrate families feel welcomed and empowered to support student success, and that our PTA is a key partner for continuous school improvement. Becoming a National PTA School of Excellence began with the joint commitment of PTA and our phenomenal administrative team to work together to welcome all families, communicate effectively, support student success, speak up for every child, share power and collaborate with the community. Congratulations and a huge thank you to everyone who helped make this possible!
To learn more about this accomplishment or to support our PTA during the Fall Membership Drive, visit wbmspta.org.
