Happenings Around Plum Point This Week
CCPS is installing Halo Smart Sensors in student bathrooms at every middle school. HALO Smart Sensors enables staff to respond rapidly to vaping, environmental and safety events via real-time site-specific notifications. HALO Smart Sensors protects the privacy of individuals as it does not use cameras, record audio, or capture any personally identifiable information making it the perfect solution for privacy areas such as restrooms. Although there are sensors located in the bathroom, these sensors DO NOT have a camera feature. When an individual vapes, smokes, or participates in a loud disturbance, the sensors will activate our current hallway cameras. The hallway camera will then capture who was coming in and out of the bathroom for a specified amount of time.
Our goal is to work with our families and community to provide a safe and engaging setting for all students. Please see the attached document below regarding the features of the Halo Smart Sensor. https://halodetect.com/product-info/halo-3c/

Plum Point Giving Tree
This year PPMS will be collecting donations of Gift cards to help our students in our community this holiday season. We are looking for gift cards from Walmart, Safeway, Giant, 5 Below, etc. We are making a special request to not donate Amazon gift cards. All donations are due 12-13 to either Ms. Jarman or Ms. Hughes.
Thank you for making this holiday special.
Lunch Drop Off
We cannot accept food deliveries from local restaurants or door dash. You are welcome to bring your student lunch and drop it off in the front office, but please refrain from having outside companies deliver food to your student. Any dropped off lunches must be in the main office BEFORE lunch begins. We are unable to call individual students from the lunchroom. Thank you for your help!

Health Room Information
Signs it could be more than a cold 🤒
- Symptoms develop fast - Cold symptoms like nasal congestion or sneezing start slowly and gradually get worse. Flu symptoms hit you all of a sudden and feel stronger.
- Chills - Shivering because your body temperature changes. They aren't typically a sign of a cold. Chills could be an early sign of an infection or high fever. More common with the flu or pneumonia.
- Increase in body temperature - a sign your body is trying to fight an infection/illness. Fevers are rarely caused by a cold, much more common with the flu, bronchitis and pneumonia. A body temperature over 100.4 is considered a fever - 100.0 for school children.
- Body aches - slight aches possible with a cold, but stronger aches are usually a sign of the flu.
- Wheezing - breathing sounds like a whistle. This is a sign of a more serious infection like pneumonia or bronchitis.
- Cough with mucus - mild annoying cough common with a cold but if you cough up mucus (slimy stuff from deep in your chest) can be a sign of pneumonia or bronchitis.
- Fatigue - no energy, no appetite, a typical symptom of the flu. Less often caused by a cold.
- Sore throat - mild with a cold and sometimes with the flu. Very painful and comes on quickly may be a sign of strep throat.
- Headache - many causes but a cold usually isn't one of them. Common flu symptom and possible sinus infection.
- Chest tightness or Pain - sign of a more serious respiratory infection like bronchitis. Sharp pain that worsens when you cough could be a sign of pneumonia.
- Shortness of breath - a cold can cause a stuffy nose which makes breathing harder, but real shortness of breath is a sign of something more serious.
- Ear, face or eye pressure - could be a sign of sinus infection or ear infection.
- Symptoms that don't go away - flu symptoms may be bad, but they usually get better within a few days. Colds can last up to 10 days. Pneumonia symptoms can last for a month or longer. Bronchitis symptoms can last several months.
*Always call your primary care physician for new or worsening symptoms so you can get an accurate diagnosis and get the right treatment.
*Please keep student's home if they are sick to help keep our PPMS community safe, happy and healthy! Happy December 🙂
