Volunteer Opportunity

If you are an approved HUUSD volunteer, you are invited to sign up to help assemble lanterns December 2 - December 6 at Brookside Primary School.

Holiday Giving Tree

Several area organizations are interested in sponsoring children and/or families during the upcoming holiday season. They have enlisted our help to make contact with interested families who have children and who would like to receive assistance. Please complete the linked form to sign up for this program. Entries should be completed by November 15th. Please reach out to the BPS Nurse team with any questions (bps-nurses@huusd.org)

Reading at Home Can Make a Huge Difference!

BPS is excited to offer a series of engaging and informational hour long sessions to support parents and caregivers. These sessions will focus on learning and practicing natural and fun ways to support your child’s reading and writing success, on Wednesdays from 5-6 pm at BPS.

Topics will include:

how to talk about the books you read with your child to enhance vocabulary and language
easy activities to enhance phonological awareness
ways to incorporate phonics and letter learning naturally
ways to support older readers with comprehension
And more!

Dates:

11/20- PK-1 oral language
12/18- 2nd-4th comprehension
We will add more dates in 2025 depending on interest.

There are 5 full-week slots available to Brookside families right now at Live Y'ers. The YMCA offers subsidy that has recently expanded to include more families so that more people can apply! Please see the attached PDF for details and appplication details.

Another Bookstore Mystery We Need YOU to Solve! Math Mysteries 2: The Fall Festival Fiasco has arrived at Bridgeside Books! Welcome back Prime Detectives! Are you ready to go on a brand new Math Mystery? You’ll need to follow the clues, solve the riddles, and explore the bookstore to earn your SIGNED copy of Math Mysteries 2: The Fall Festival Fiasco from author Aaron Starmer! Will you accept the challenge? Ideal for kids and families ages 8-11. Adult participation required.

Kids Ticket: $12, includes activity and one signed copy of Math Mysteries 2
Parent/Adult Companion Ticket: Free with purchase of one or more kids tickets
Activity will like take 25-45 minutes for most families. Advance ticket purchase required as event is expected to sell out in advance
