Eagle Fun Run
What an incredible week we’ve had with the PTO Eagle Fun Run! From nightly challenges to classroom visits, we’ve shared so many laughs and unforgettable moments—potato bowling, secret missions, mummifying Booster, and even a silly string showdown! Our students have brought their energy, enthusiasm, and teamwork to every part of this event. Thanks to our amazing Prairie Ridge community, we have already raised over $11,000 for our school!
We will share the results of our goals with pictures of all the fun they had soon!
The top fundraising grade level will celebrate with Root Beer floats!
The highest-earning class in each grade will get to Break the Rules (with teacher guidance, of course)!
The top two fundraisers in each class will earn an invite to a pizza party!
Every student who registers or fundraises will be entered into a raffle for a visit from the FUN CART—packed with delicious snacks!
We surpassed our registration goal! That means students will be enjoying an extra recess soon!
Thank you, parents and community, for your incredible support!
Parent/Teacher Conferences February 10-12
We look forward to meeting with families and sharing the progress students have made! Conferences are an important time to strengthen home/school partnerships and we encourage parents/guardians to make it a priority to meet with their child’s teacher.
Click Here before February 7 to login to Meet the Teacher and set up a conference with your child’s teacher. Specials teachers may reach out to schedule a conference with you as well. If you would like to meet with one of the Specialists, you are welcome to stop by their room on the evening of your conference to see if they are available or contact them to set up an appointment: Mr. Cruise (PE), Mr. Spong (Art), Mrs. Keller (music). If you need any assistance please call (720) 494-3641.
Wish Week Penny Wars is Coming to Prairie Ridge February 3rd-7th!
Frederick High School is sponsoring a child, Ariel, for the Make A Wish Foundation and has invited us to join in their Penny Wars event! Ariel is a 5 year old boy who loves blue, green, cars, baseball, Spider-Man, McDonald's and all things Disney. Ariel has a medical respiratory condition, CHAOS, a genetic disorder that usually affects the lungs primarily but, in his case, causes Ariel to need a trach in his throat and a ventilator to help him breathe due to his blocked airway. Ariel wishes to visit Universal Studios to meet the one and only Spider-Man!
Here’s how it works:
Each grade level teacher will have a jar in their classroom for collecting money.
Pennies and Dollars ADD points: Students will want to ADD points to their class by putting pennies and dollars in their own class jar.
Silver Coins SUBTRACT points: Students will want to SUBTRACT points from other classes by putting silver coins in the jars of other classes.
The point of Penny Wars is to have the most Positive points at the end of the week. The winning class will receive free Cane's vouchers for the whole class!

Inspired 2nd Grader
After reading an inspiring book about kids who are change makers, this 2nd grader in Mrs. Olsen’s class decided he wanted to make a difference in the world. With guidance from one of our amazing volunteers, he designed a heartfelt poster and started collecting food for both the homeless and their beloved dogs. His passion shows that even the smallest actions can spark big change. Together, we can make a difference—one kind act at a time!

5th Graders Attend Longmont Symphony Orchestra Concert
Our 5th grade Eagles enjoyed a memorable cultural experience at the Vance Brand Civic Auditorium, where they attended the Longmont Symphony Orchestra's performance of Wild Symphony by Dan Brown. Dressed in their best and practicing proper performance etiquette, students had the opportunity to appreciate live orchestral music and gain a deeper understanding of the arts. It was a wonderful day of enrichment and inspiration!
NOMINATE AN EXCEPTIONAL EDUCATOR
The St. Vrain Valley Schools Education Foundation is thrilled to announce that the Celebration of Excellence (formerly Tribute to Teachers) nomination form opens on January 13th! This cherished annual event honors outstanding educators from every St. Vrain school who exemplify excellence in their roles and make extraordinary contributions to student success.
We invite students, parents, volunteers, fellow educators, school staff, community members, and business partners to nominate exceptional educators who inspire, innovate, and shape the future. In order to qualify, nominees must be licensed educators in the State of Colorado and employed at a St. Vrain Valley Schools campus for the current school year. Educators who received their school's Educator of the Year honor within the past two years are not eligible.
Based on your nominations, one educator from each St. Vrain Valley school will be selected as their school’s Educator of the Year. These honorees will be recognized during the Celebration of Excellence on April 11, 2025, where a district-wide Educator of the Year will also be announced.
Nominations are open through February 5. Don’t miss this opportunity to recognize the educators who make a lasting impact in our schools and community!

101 Days of Fun in First Grade!
Our first grade Eagles recently celebrated 101 days of learning and growing! To mark the occasion, students and their families got creative by decorating shirts to look like dalmatians. It was a joyful and memorable way to celebrate this milestone together. Great job, first graders — keep up the amazing work!
Student Council Food Drive: February 3-13
Our Student Council is sponsoring a food drive to support The Table of Hope Food Pantry, a non-profit organization providing food assistance to families in SW Weld and surrounding counties. We encourage students to bring in non-perishable food items—every donation, big or small, makes a difference! The grade level that collects the most items will win a party. Thank you for helping us support this important cause!

Kindergarten Celebrates 100 Days of Learning!
Our kindergarten Eagles celebrated 100 days of growth and learning today! Students created special projects with their families at home and then enjoyed a fun-filled celebration at school. Families joined in for hands-on activities like building, creating, and stacking games. Students also proudly showcased their reading, writing, and math skills, highlighting how much they’ve learned. Congratulations to our amazing kindergarteners!
Global School Play Day!
On Wednesday, February 5th, 2025, our school will be participating in Global School Play Day (GSPD.) GSPD has been promoted by Psychology Today and is being celebrated at schools around the world. You can learn more about the benefits of unstructured play by visiting the official GSPD website: https://globalschoolplayday.com/research
We are inviting all of our students to bring in two or three school and age appropriate things to play with on this very special day. Here are some examples of things your child may bring in (be sure your child’s name is clearly marked on all items):
Non-Violent Toys (no weapons)
Legos, blocks, cardboard boxes, etc.
Dress-Up
Puppets
Stuffed Animals
School and Age Appropriate Board Games
School and Age Appropriate Puzzles
Sports equipment
*no electronic devices*
Though our play day will be unstructured, it will still be supervised by teachers. It is our hope that this one day of play will inspire families to plan for more unstructured playtime during non-school hours.
Help Your Child SOAR with Daily Reading and Math Practice!
Consistent practice makes a big difference! We encourage families to set a goal to read for 20 minutes every day and spend time reviewing math facts. By setting and accomplishing these goals, students develop important skills and build confidence to SOAR in their learning. Thank you for supporting your child’s success!
High School Volunteers Making a Difference!
We welcome a new group of dedicated high school volunteers who come to our school once a week to provide extra practice in reading and math for our students. These inspiring young mentors work one-on-one and in small groups, reinforcing essential skills and building student confidence. We are so grateful for their time, energy, and positive influence. Their commitment is a wonderful example of leadership and community spirit in action!
Robotics Tournament
We recently hosted a Vex IQ Robotics Tournament with 34 teams competing. Teams had a great time as they demonstrated teamwork, problem solving, and innovation. There was an exciting finish with a 3-way tie after the finals matches and PRES teams were in all 3 of the tie breaking matches! Congratulations to our teams who won trophies and to all of our teams for their leadership as the host school. Thank you to Mrs. Olsen for organizing the tournament and to all of the coaches and parents who helped make this a success. Go Eagles!

Consistent attendance is key to student success, helping kids stay on track with learning, build strong habits, and stay connected with their classmates. Our goal at Prairie Ridge is for every student to have 5 or fewer absences this school year.
How can you help?
✅ Schedule appointments outside of school hours when possible.
✅ Encourage healthy habits to prevent illness.
✅ Help your child establish a strong morning routine.
Every day counts, and together, we can help our students reach their full potential! Thank you for your partnership in making attendance a priority.
