Terri Czerwinski, Director of Safe & Healthy Schools at Wayne RESA, has 25+ years of experience in school and community health, both as a registered nurse and a school health leader. Terri regularly provides technical assistance to schools and community agencies across Wayne County regarding the importance of understanding and supporting the physical, social, emotional, and mental health needs of all students, and creating and maintaining safe and healthy teaching and learning environments. Terri is a certified ACE (Adverse Childhood Experiences) Master Trainer through the Michigan ACE Initiative, a Comprehensive School Threat Assessment Guidelines (CSTAG) trainer, Past-President of the Michigan Association of School Nurses (MASN), and a member of several state-level school health-related groups, including the Michigan Model for Health State Steering Committee, the 31n Advisory Council, and the Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) and Children’s Mental Health Network. She currently co-chairs the Wayne County Human Services Community Collaborative and serves on the Boards of MASN, Michigan Council for Maternal and Child Health (MCMCH), and Child’s Hope.

Arlo McMillian is the Administrative Assistant for the Safe & Healthy Schools Team at Wayne RESA. Arlo attended the University of Michigan’s School of Music Theater and Dance earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatrical Design and Production. Arlo worked on many theatrical productions during their time at UofM including American Idiot, Cosi Fan Tutti, Blood at the Root, and A Man of No Importance. While attending university they also worked as a bus driver, an orientation leader, and a mentor of the Living Arts learning community. Following university Arlo honed their skills in organization and administration as a Front Desk Coordinator and Training Lead at Rivage Day Spa, in Birmingham MI. Arlo has a passion for creative problem solving and finding a way to blend utility and artistry into all their work.

Jamie Eathorne is a School Health Consultant with the Wayne RESA Safe and Healthy Schools team. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Development and Social Relations from Kalamazoo College and earned her Master of Public Health from Oakland University, where she also worked as a graduate research assistant. Prior to joining Wayne RESA, Jamie served as the Health Educator for the Monroe County Health Department, leading school health education programming in addition to providing community education on topics including car seat safety, CPR, diabetes, HIV, maternal infant health, nutrition, and sexual health. As a Certified Health Education Specialist, she is passionate about promoting health and well-being for all and strives to be an advocate, resource, and cheerleader for health education and promotion.

Danielle Tagai is a School Health/Social Work Consultant for Wayne RESA. Danielle began her career in 2003 at Paulding Regional Youth Detention Center, as a Social Services Provider and then Social Services Coordinator until she moved back to Michigan in 2008. Upon returning to Michigan, Danielle served as a school social worker and PBIS coordinator for Northville Schools. In 2010, Danielle transitioned to Garden City Schools as a School Social Worker at Burger School for Students with Autism, leading the PBIS initiatives within center-based programming. Danielle transitioned to Novi Community School District in 2015, serving as a Social Worker at Novi High School, Career Preparation High School, and Novi Adult Transition Center until 2024. During her tenure, she served on the district threat assessment, mental health wellness committee, and suicide prevention committees and was the district nonviolent crisis intervention instructor.
Danielle holds a Bachelor of Science in Social Work Degree from Eastern Michigan University and a Masters in Social Work from the University of Michigan. Danielle has been serving as the Director of Mental Health and Special Needs for Tamarack Camps since 2019. She has been a certified CPI trainer since 2011 and, a Suicide Awareness for Everyone (SAFE Talk) Instructor since 2022. Danielle holds a Certified School Social Work Specialist (C-SSWS) credential through the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) and is a Certified Trauma and Resilience Specialist-Clinical (CTRS-C), through Starr Commonwealth.

Sharon Black-Johnson, BSN, RN (she/her/hers)

Sharon Black-Johnson is a passionate School Outreach Nurse with Wayne RESA’s Educational Services, Safe & Healthy Schools department. She has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Oakland University. Sharon is a registered nurse who has worked in NICU, pediatric and adolescent healthcare at Henry Ford Health and Detroit Public Schools Community District for over 30 years, specializing in school health. In this capacity she co-developed Medication Administration and Health Modules that successfully train non licensed personnel and new school nurses. Throughout her career she focused heavily on the needs of students with health-related IEP’s, IFSP’s and 504 plans. Sharon is a certified MERT Train-The-Trainer, Youth Mental Health First Aid Instructor, QPR Gatekeeper Instructor and CSTAG trainer. She also continues to be committed to orientating, mentoring, and being a resource to new school nurses, teaching them how to support and provide school health services based on best practice, and the Michigan School Code.

Vanessa Long is part of the Safe and Healthy Schools Team at Wayne RESA, working as a School Outreach Nurse. She began her career at Children's Hospital of MI in 2003, as a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Nurse, later moving to the Pediatric Hematology and Oncology/Bone Marrow Transplant Unit. During the pandemic, Vanessa shifted her career to school health, becoming a COVID-19 Response Public Health School Nurse, responsible for collaborating with the local health department and school districts to get children safely back to school. As a school nurse she is passionate about the opportunity to provide access to a safe and healthy learning environment for all and removing health barriers to education. Vanessa is an active board member of the Michigan Association of School Nurses (MASN), serving as the Legislative Chair. She is married and the proud mother of three children

Maribeth Lyons is a School Outreach Nurse at Wayne RESA and has been a nurse for 18 years. Prior to school nursing, Maribeth worked as a care manager, a floor nurse in the trauma/surgical department and as an education coordinator at the hospital. Maribeth is also a K-12 CPR & First Aid instructor through the American Heart Association. She has been married for 17 years and has two children, 14 and 10, who keep her busy with hockey, baseball, softball and basketball. Maribeth also enjoys golfing and camping with her family.
