One CommUNITY
Ross CommUNITY... it is with great hope that you felt a sense of community during our Title 1 STREAM Night. It is so exciting to see our motto and mission come alive regularly. We see this at our musical performances, family nights, conferences, etc. Our STREAM night was such a big hit; we had well over 300 people walk the halls of Ross and immerse themselves in all of the activities. These evenings can be exhausting for sure. However, it brings us so much joy seeing our students and families engaging with one another. Mr. Bryant and I are just beaming with pride, and we continue to be so proud of our dynamic staff for all of the hard work that they put in each day! Without them... this event could have not been as successful as it was.

TikTok Trend
Building principals were notified on Wednesday by District Technology about a current TikTok trend that involves students intentionally causing Chromebooks to catch fire. This activity encourages students to use pencils or other tools to short out the USB ports, causing the devices to emit smoke. This practice presents a significant fire hazard and poses a severe safety risk to students and staff. We have not had an incident at Ross, and I am intending to keep it that way.
Please understand that students who engage in this activity will be subject to school discipline and will be responsible for the full cost of replacement. Approximately $300.
North Star Day
We believe that student behavior is a key part of a successful learning environment and the overall school experience. To help reinforce positive behavior and accountability for the last few weeks of school, as a school, we are implementing a “Three Strikes” policy regarding participation in upcoming student activities for North Star Day on Friday, May 23rd.
Here’s how the policy works:
Strike 1 – The student will miss one scheduled activity.
Strike 2 – The student will miss two scheduled activities.
Strike 3 – The student will miss all three scheduled activities.
Strikes will be issued for repeated or serious behavioral issues, including but not limited to repeated disrespect towards adults and/or peers, disruption to classroom activities, or failure to follow school expectations. Our goal is to encourage responsibility, self-control, and respect for peers and staff. As I have shared in a previous newsletter, the end of the year can be a difficult time for many students due to the change in routines and schedules, and unfortunately, with that change can come unwanted behaviors. At Ross, we strive to have our leaders follow all of our Core Values of: Respect, Responsibility, Kindness, and Perseverance!
We want every student to enjoy these activities, and we hope to partner with you in encouraging positive choices. Please speak with your child about the importance of good behavior and the consequences of poor decisions. We want to end the school year on a positive note!
