Safety Protocols
Safety and security is a top priority at our school. Our school has secure entryways, conducts regular safety drills, and has implemented standard emergency response protocols and training for all staff. Visitors must also present a government issued ID before gaining access to our schools.
In the event of an emergency, we will announce HOLD, SECURE, LOCKDOWN, EVACUATE, or SHELTER. Our students will have drills for each scenario during the school year. In an emergency situation, we will notify families via phone, text, and email through our mass notification system. Please make sure your contact information is up to date in Infinite Campus so you receive emergency notifications.
School safety is a shared responsibility. We encourage families and students to report concerns through our anonymous tip line for secondary schools. If you have any concerns about your student, please contact our school for support.
Finally, we appreciate the partnership we have with local police and fire departments to ensure preparedness and emergency response. We will continue to prioritize the safety and well-being of our community.

ATTENDANCE MATTERS!
ATTENDANCE MATTERS: Being Present Every Day at EHS
At Eagan High School, our primary focus this year is ensuring that students are in class, and engaged every day and that every absence is reported.
EHS students should know and follow the 2024-25 school year Attendance Policy, especially regarding unknown OR unexcused absences.
We will be monitoring attendance closely. If necessary, interventions such as attendance contracts, loss of privileges, truancy referrals, or loss of credit after 15 or more days of absences may be implemented.
For more information go to EHS Attendance Information & Policy
We could add this info as well if you did not feel it was too much.
ABSENCE REPORTING
Voicemail 651-683-6915
Attendance Office 651-683-6911
To report a student absence:
1. Complete the online form,
2. Call the EHS Attendance Office at 651-683-6911 during the school day or 651-683-6915 to reach the voicemail,
3. Send a note with the student to be delivered to the Attendance Office upon return to school.
*If an absence has not been reported, it will be deemed “unexcused” after 48 hours.
*Absences due to illness are excused for up to 10 days. A doctor’s note is required after 10 absences due to illness.
STUDENT ABSENCE INFORMATION
- Full Day Absence, call BEFORE 1:00 pm using the Attendance Voicemail Number: 651-683-6911
- Partial Day Absence (late arrival or early release) send a note with your student or call 683-6911 or for voice mail 651-683-6915
- Students must have an EHS yellow attendance pass before leaving the building
- Insist that your student ask teachers for make-up work the day they return---they are responsible for all learning while they are absent!
- For all other attendance issues, please call the EHS Attendance Office at 651-683-6911
PRE-PLANNED ABSENCE
Students that will be absent 3 or more days for a pre-planned absence should complete the “Pre-Planned Authorization” form. The forms are located in the EHS Attendance Office.
- The form should be completed and submitted prior to the planned absence. We recommend at least one week or more in advance.
- The student is responsible for arranging make-up assignments with all teachers prior to the absence in order to receive credit for the work.
- Our attendance policy counts these preplanned absences in the excessive absence policy.
- Vacation absences beyond 5 days will be marked as unexcused.
POLICIES AND PRACTICES AT EHS
In the first three full days of this school year our Principals’ Team members met with students throughout the day in classrooms to talk about policies and practices at Eagan HS. Some of this information was reminders for students. There were some new updates which include the following:
- Requesting a hall pass from a classroom will now be available to students using their iPads in Campus. Teachers have laminated hall passes on lanyards (as we have had for several years) and if one is available the student brings their iPad to the teacher, the pass is authorized by the teacher digitally, and the student departs. When they return to class from the restroom, locker or other destination, they are checked back in by ending the pass on their iPad.
- Attendance – we have an updated policy Districtwide. It has been published on our web site, sent to students in Schoology and can be reviewed by opening this link.
- Cell Phones – we are continuing the policy that student cell phones will be stored in numbered phone caddies during class time in each teaching space. This was highly successful last school year. All high schools in our District are using phone caddies. Students may use their phones during passing times and lunch time. Open this link to the policy on our website to review the policy and why it is important.
