Welcome Meghan DeSimpliciis, Grade 4 Teacher!
Meghan DeSimpliciis grew up just outside of Portland, Oregon. She and her husband just moved to Massachusetts from California over the summer! Meghan received her Bachelor's and Master’s degrees in Elementary Education from the University of Portland. Over the past eight years, she has taught 3rd and 4th grades in Catholic schools in Oregon and California. She loves to travel, read and explore new restaurants. One fun fact about Meghan is that she Irish danced for 15 years! She is thrilled to be joining the St. Mary’s community this year.
St. Mary's Night at Fenway
We have had some inquiries about continuing to purchase tickets for our St. Mary's night at Fenway. If you would like to join us at the game on August 28th, you can do so by purchasing individual tickets from the Red Sox website by clicking on the attached photo. To be seated near the group you should try to select tickets in the Grandstand 2 section (highlighted in the photo - left side). We would love to have you join us for this event to kick off the school year!
Feast of the Assumption Mass & Rosary Procession
On Thursday, our Parish celebrated a beautiful Mass and Rosary Procession in Honor of the Feast of the Assumption. We were so blessed to have this Mass celebrated by Cardinal Sean O'Malley. Following the Mass, attendees walked around the Church, school, and neighboring areas reciting the rosary. It was so special to see some of our St. Mary's students, Ellis, Nicole, and Mia serving at Mass and helping to lead the procession. On Sunday we were also able to see many of our school families at the St. Mary's Parish barbecue! Many of our St. Mary's students and families attended the Mass and joined together for a barbecue in the Lower Hall afterwards. We love to see our school families together outside of school and engaging with our parish community!
Ms. Crapo & Ms. Porcello Present at Lynch Summer Institute
We are so proud of our PreK teachers, Ms. Crapo and Ms. Porcello for presenting at the Lynch Summer Institute Conference last week! They shared a detailed presentation about how teacher's can tailor the curriculum to match students needs, and explained how they do so at St. Mary's! We are so happy that some of our St. Mary's teachers were able to be featured in this conference to highlight some aspects of our curriculum. Congratulations to Ms. Crapo & Ms. Porcello for delivering such a wonderful presentation!
Middle School Team Meeting
Our Middle School Team gathered together with Principal, Dr. Nadjarian and Assistant Principal, Mrs. Enrique to prepare for the upcoming school year! We are excited to have new faculty members and students joining this year!
Early Childhood & Construction Update
We are so grateful for the team of construction workers who have been working hard to create a space for our infant-toddler program! They have continued to make so much progress & are nearing the end of this project! The construction will be wrapping up this week which will allow us to begin setting up these classrooms! Our construction team has worked so hard to ensure that we will have a beautiful space for our infant-toddler program as soon as the licensure process is complete.
Facilities Spotlight!
We want to express our deep gratitude to our Facilities Team for working so hard to get our school ready for the upcoming school year! They have been working day in and day out to make sure our school is looking it's best for the start of the school year. This week they have been working on preparing all of the floors throughout the school for another year. We don't know what we would do without all of their help!
Thank you to our Volunteers!
Thank you to our those who have volunteered their time to help get our school ready for the start of the year! With all of the exciting changes throughout our school, a lot of reorganization was required. We are so grateful to have members of our Parish community volunteering to help our school.
Protecting God's Children
All adults must also attend a VIRTUS Protecting God's Children Training. If you have already attended this in the past then you do not need to repeat it. A little information about this training from the Archdiocese:
As part of our efforts to keep all our children free from abuse, the Archdiocese of Boston requires that all volunteers complete Protecting God’s Children training. Parents who may volunteer in the school also need to complete this training. The training focuses on how to create a Safe Environment for kids, how to recognize risks and indicators of abuse, and what to do if you have concerns.
To register for a training, please go to www.VIRTUSonline.org, Click on “First Time Registrant” then complete the registration, selecting “Boston Archdiocese MA” as the location when asked at the beginning of the process. Once you have completed your registration you will be directed to a list of all of the upcoming trainings in the Archdiocese. You can select any training you choose unless it is specified as closed. Please note that some trainings are in languages other than English. When that is the case it will be noted. Thank you for helping us to keep all children safe.
Parent Volunteer Update
We are looking forward to getting our Parent Volunteer Council up and running for this school year! In order to volunteer at school events, field trips, or in the classroom, there are a few steps you need to take. All adults must complete a CORI form each school year. Be on the lookout for information about CORI forms during the first weeks of school. All volunteers must complete VIRTUS training before being able to volunteer. A registration link for Parent Volunteer Council will be sent next newsletter.
Refer a Friend
We are excited to share about our Refer a Friend program! Starting this school year, refer a new family to St. Mary's and receive a $200 tuition discount for the following school year if the new family enrolls. See office for details.
