Summer and Online Learning Information
Trade Credit Information
All LISD staff must earn trade credit over the course of the year between May 24, 2024 - March 31, 2025. The trade credit hours are in exchange for paid professional learning days that staff have off based on contract dates (August 2, November 22, and 23).
- All instructional professional staff must acquire 6 August trade credits prior to or on August 2 for the August Trade Day on August 2.
- All LISD staff must complete 12 hours of learning outside of contract hours for the two paid professional learning days on the calendar for the first two days of Thanksgiving break.
Summer Learning Sessions Details for Instructional Professional Staff
- All instructional professional staff must acquire a total of 6 trade credits prior to or on August 2.
- The 6 trade credits of summer learning will consist of any content August learning sessions based on teaching assignment.
- Trade credit earned this summer exceeding 6 hours of August Trade Credit will be applied to the 12 trade credits needed for the November days. A total of 18 hours trade credit must be earned by March 31, 2025. (6 trade credits by August 2 + 12 trade credits by March 31).

Building on Restorative Practices Refresher Course

Restorative practices are a collection of tools and actions that aim to build, maintain, and when necessary--repair relationships. This refresher course revisits how restorative practices support a positive learning environment and relationship building. An in-person interactive approach will be utilized to build on existing knowledge related to restorative practices and their impact on connected classroom spaces.4 sessions offered:

July 8 8:30- 11:30 or 1:00- 4:00
Trauma Informed Classrooms

Trauma-informed teaching starts with an understanding of how trauma can impact learning and behavior. With this approach, educators think about what student behavior may be telling them. And they reflect on their teaching practices to find ways to better support students who may be experiencing trauma
Verbal Intervention
4 Nov credits
Verbal intervention training will equip participants with skills to de-escalate students exhibiting anxious and defensive behaviors. This training is designed to build your response skill set using person-centered strategies. By the end of the training, attendees will be empowered to navigate challenging interactions, mitigate conflict, and promote positive outcomes through verbal de-escalation techniques.

When teachers are intentional about all of their relationships, they can address burnout, increase their own effectiveness, and improve the learning environment for their students. Strategies for Success on TExES Certification Exams

This course is designed for current LISD classroom teachers who are preparing for any TExES certification exam. In this session, we will explore test taking strategies that can be applied across TExES certification exams, familiarize ourselves with the "Utopian" classroom encountered in test question scenarios, learn about key language in test items that can help identify the best answer choice, and learn ways to reduce anxiety during the exam.

Course Information
- Courses must be completed outside of contract hours to earn trade credit.
- Partial credit is not awarded for online courses.
- Courses cannot be taken more than once for trade credit.
- Learning completed for august trade credit must be completed by the end of the day August 2.
