LIS Tiger Talk
November 15, 2024
Principal's Message
Tiger Families,
We kicked off this week with our first annual Veterans Day Event. We welcomed over 50 special veterans in the Iives of our students and staff with over 400 years of service to our country. Our whole school assembly included music performances, poems, letters and recognizing each veteran. What an honor for us! This was a great experience for our students to be a part of. A special thanks to:
- Tracey Power for covering our hallways with student artwork, a Happy Veterans Day sign and backdrop for pictures.
- Our planning team: Sarah Browning, Nick Conner, Jill Stagg, and Melissa Dennedy for everything they did to ensure this event was a success.
- Abbie Mueller for taking charge of decorations and coming in Sunday night to set-up.
- John Hart for coming in to set up the gym and media center on Sunday night.
- Danny and Sarah Robben, BF Realty, for providing food and drinks after the assembly.
- Kate O'Donnell, KCO Events, for the tasty takeaway treat bags from Trailside Provisions.
You may enjoy looking at the Veterans Day 2024 slideshow played during the assembly. There were some neat pictures submitted by our families.
Go Tigers!

Holiday Support for Families
The holidays will be here before we know it! Every year, LIS staff sponsors some of our families that need a little extra support during this time of year. Loveland community members are amazing and have expressed interest in helping out as well. If you would like to help make the holidays extra special for some of our students and families, you may donate a gift card(s). You can send the gift card to school with your student or drop it off at the front desk. If you have any questions, please contact Robin Purdin at purdinro@lovelandschools.org. Thank you in advance for your generosity!
A Message from our Health Services Team
Cold and flu season is upon us and we have seen an increase in student illnesses in the clinics!
To keep everyone healthy and stop the spread of germs we are encouraging all students and staff members to practice good hand hygiene. Please encourage students to use hand sanitizer when walking into your classrooms (there are dispensers outside of every classroom) and to wash their hands as needed, especially before and after lunch!
We are sending out Guidelines for Keeping Students Home from School to our families. These guidelines apply to all staff as well. If you are not feeling well please stay home and consult your medical provider.
If you have any questions or concerns please reach out to your building administrators or nurse.

Loveland Science and Innovation Expo
This year Loveland will be hosting our first ever Science and Innovation Expo! The event will take place on Saturday, February 1st, 2025 from 9 am to 12 pm at Loveland High School. This day is an opportunity to celebrate and showcase the amazing learning that happens around Loveland! The Science and Innovation Expo is a one-day event that incorporates two pathways for students to pick from, a Science Expo and an Innovation Expo.
For more information about each pathway, click here to watch a video, or read the brief description below: Here is more information about each pathway:
- The Science Expo is a traditional science fair where students have the opportunity to conduct a scientific research project or engineering design project, and present their findings to their peers and community judges, with the opportunity to qualify for Regional Science Day at University of Cincinnati, called the Science and Engineering Expo. If students achieve well at UC, they have the opportunity to qualify for State Science Day at Ohio State University. This pathway is open to students in grades 5-12, and students can present individually or up to groups of three.
- The Innovation Expo is an open-ended opportunity for students to identify a problem and solve it with something they will create, or to simply create and share something creative, inventive, or innovative. Some ideas may be a DIY craft, coding/computer science project, an engineering creation, or anything else in which your child creates something to share! This pathway is open to all students grades PreK-12, and community judges will provide informal feedback about strengths of each project, as well as areas to grow. Students can participate individually or up to groups of three.
To learn more details about the event, how to submit a project, project ideas, and project requirements, visit Loveland's website at https://lovelandschools.org/expo
For any questions, please reach out to innovation@lovelandschools.org. We hope to see you on February 1st!
