Hello Country Dale Family!
All students have completed their MAPS Assessment in Reading and Math! The data will help guide our teaching strategies moving forward, ensuring we continue to provide the best learning experience possible. We are excited to build on the strengths of our students as well as grow in areas of improvement through our Tier I whole group instruction and Tier II and III interventions. Teachers will be sharing results with you soon!
We also continued working on our district safety protocols and practiced our evacuation drill. It ran smoothly and great conversations followed in the classrooms. Our District Administrator, Annalee Bennin, also shared the district’s approach to safety in many situations in the FPS District Newsletter #2. If you missed it, you can access it here District Newsletter #2 .
As always, we thank you for your continued support in your child’s educational journey.
Warm regards,
Mrs. Nickel
STUDENT ENGAGEMENT SURVEY 9/30 TO 10/4
The week of September 30th - October 4 your student will be participating in a Student Engagement Survey. This survey was written by the district and takes less than 10 minutes to complete. It asks students to respond to questions in areas related to environment, learning, and relationships. Information from this survey is used by teachers and administrators to identify areas of improvement related to the student experience. If you have questions about the survey, please contact Jan Nickel at anjanette.nickel@franklin.k12.wi.us.
As a reminder, the 2024-25 District Calendar can be found in PDF format here and linked into our district calendars on our website here. All of our calendars are able to be subscribed to! Follow the steps at the top of the District Calendar webpage for how to subscribe.
PERTUSSIS “WHOOPING COUGH” UPDATE
The state of Wisconsin, our local communities, and our District are seeing an increase (4 cases) in individuals diagnosed with pertussis, more commonly known as “Whooping Cough.” Our FPS nursing team and District administration are working together closely and in regular communication with the Franklin Health Department at this time.
Pertussis is a respiratory infection caused by bacteria that can be transmitted from person to person through airborne saliva droplets. Pertussis is treated with 5 days of antibiotics. Early symptoms include running nose and cough that can progress into violent fits of coughing or vomiting, generally not responsive to cough medications. The pertussis cough can be severe and last for weeks or months. Anyone can get pertussis, but it can be very dangerous for infants and people with weakened immune systems.
Pertussis is a vaccine preventable disease, so please make sure your family members are up-to-date with pertussis vaccinations. Pertussis vaccines are recommended and available for children, adolescents, and adults. Please note, even if your child is up to date on their immunizations, it is possible to get Pertussis so if your child is coughing please contact your child’s healthcare provider.
Please protect yourself and others against Pertussis and various germs by these daily actions:
Washing hands frequently with soap and water or alcohol based hand sanitizer.
Cover all coughs and sneezes with a tissue and if tissue is not available, cough into your shirtsleeve. Always wash your hands after coughing or sneezing.
Avoid touching your nose, mouth and eyes.
Keep all ill family members home from work or school.
Contact your health care provider if you have any questions or if symptoms worsen.
For more information please see the Wisconsin Department of Health Services Pertussis webpage and their 9/19/24 Press Release.
Thank you for your partnership in keeping our students and families as healthy as possible.
